The 2nd Liangzhu Forum in Zhejiang Province (25-27.11.2024) was an international cultural event with over 300 participants from 60 countries.
The forum was held in Liangzhu City, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province.
It was organized by the Bureau of International Exchanges and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of PRC, the Archaeology Department of the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China and other National and local departments. It was also supported by Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Writers Association, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and Zhejiang Institute of Cultural relics and Archaeology. [1]
The attendees, scientists and distinguished personalities from all over the world, were divided into 3 groups: architects, writers and musicians.There were speeches, events and dialogues between the participants. A visit to the museum and to the archaeological site was also organized, and a special concert was given with music composed especially for the 2nd Liangzhu Forum.[2]
The Neolithic civilization of Liangzhu developed in 3300 BC and lasted for about 1000 years. The archaeological ruins of Liangzhu City has been inscribed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Liangzhu civilization as well as all ancient civilizations around the world, offer knowledge about life, society and human destiny. Apart the historical and sociological interest they carry an important philosophical message through their ancient wisdom related to respecting life and nature.
