Category talk:Botanists with author abbreviations

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Rich Farmbrough in topic Categories in templates

Most botanists who are even slightly notable for their taxonomy or collecting, are given author abbreviations. A list of botanists who do NOT have author abbreviations would be extremely short. I feel that creating this category is about as helpful as a category of botanists who have used a plant press. Paul venter 11:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a group at the end "{" which needs to be alphabetized. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tusbra (talkcontribs) 02:43, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a curious discrepancy between the number of names in the main list versus the one retrieved under individual letters.Tusbra (talk) 14:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could you explain further what you mean?--Curtis Clark (talk) 16:23, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The entry “Pages in category botanists with author abbreviations" lists 26 (twenty-six) names starting with the letter “A”; Clicking the letter A at the alphabetic contents bar retrieves 3 (three) names.Tusbra (talk) 14:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

There's something weird going on with Template:Botanist. I'll investigate.--Curtis Clark (talk) 14:51, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is not a good idea for a number of reasons. See Wp:Categories. Rich Farmbrough, 05:11, 17 December 2009 (UTC).Reply
