movement vs. ideology

Stop toying with this notion of anarchism being a political movement. It is not. It is an ideology. Provo is in instance of a political movement based on anarchist ideology, therefore it's a anarchist movement. Only people can move. Ideologies do not. Fin. Intangible 23:17, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, well. All nice and such. Anarchism is just a generic term for a political ideology. Not really useful here in the categorization hierarchy. Since every social / political movement is community based, and different communities will not have the same form of collective action towards a common goal, it is best to use specific terms for specific anarchist movements, such as Provo. This category is simply a subcat of anarchism. The same can be done for socialist, communist, national-socialist, fascist, etc. movements. Intangible 23:57, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, since a political movement cannot exist without an issue or ideology, it will mean that putting Category:Anarchism in Category:Political movements is incorrect. Intangible 00:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

proposed subcats

Hi - This category is a bit unwieldy. I'm proposing a few additional subcats for discussion.

• Anarchist communities (to include squats, communes; accompany article Past and present anarchist communities
• Anarchist scholars (preferred to anarchist academics since not all scholars are in academia)
• Anarchist art (or anarchist arts?)
