State Route 278, located on the western edge of Carbon Hill, is its main north-south street. It is 3 miles (5 km) north of Nelsonville.
History
editCarbon Hill was laid out in 1873.[3] Coal (a carbon-based fuel) was extensively mined there.[3] This industry accounts for the community's name.[4] A post office called Carbon Hill has been in operation since 1879.[5]
