Ayorinde Mafoluku Ayodele (born 18 July 2005), professionally known as Ayo Maff, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter[1] He gained prominence with his hit single Dealer, featuring Fireboy DML, which charted in the top 5 on Apple Music Nigeria and reached number one on platforms such as Audiomack, Spotify, TurnTable Charts, and Shazam.[2][3][4][5] On 15 August, he released his debut extended play Maffian.

Early life and education

Ayo Maff was born and raised in Somolu, Bariga, Lagos State, Nigeria, where he completed his primary and secondary education. Growing up in a culturally rich environment, Ayo Maff developed an early interest in music, influenced by the vibrant sounds around him. He is fluent in both English and Yoruba.[6][7]

Career

Ayo Maff's musical journey began during his early years when he started singing and developing his unique sound. His career gained traction when he began sharing freestyle performances on Instagram, attracting a growing audience.[8]

His debut single, Jama Jama, marked his entry into the Nigerian music scene, going viral on social media with over 40,000 TikTok videos using the track. The song's success laid the foundation for collaborations with established Nigerian artists and producers.[9]

In January 2024, Ayo Maff released a two-track project, Street Anthem and 7 Days, which addressed themes of social justice, including police brutality. Later that year, his collaboration with Fireboy DML on the single Dealer brought him widespread recognition. The track showcased Ayo Maff's lyrical abilities and storytelling prowess, earning critical acclaim and charting on multiple platforms. The music video for Dealer, released in April 2024, garnered over 2.5 million views on YouTube.[10]

Ayo Maff's debut EP, Maffian, was released on 15 August 2024. The seven-track project, led by the single Last Week, solidified his position as a rising artist in the Nigerian music industry. The EP was well-received and brought him into discussions for rookie of the year.[1]
