On 28 January 2022, Haque once again became the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association after bagging 176 votes while his competitor, Nipun Akter, got 163 votes.[5] Later, as the allegations of buying votes in exchange for money were proven, the appeal board canceled the candidature of Zayed Khan and declared Nipun Akter the winner.[11]

Criticism

edit

Zayed Khan took a stand for the government during the repression of the dictatorship Awami League government on the students in the quota reform movement that took place in 2024.[12] During the movement, a group of pro-autocracy Awami artists, including Zayed Khan, were active against the movement in a WhatsApp group called 'Alo Ashbei'[13] led by actor Ferdous. After the non-cooperation movement, on September 3, 2024, some screenshots related to that WhatsApp group were spread on social media.[14][15]
