Drafting Plans

Since we've started, let's start doing some work. I'll be drafting the revamped outline of Percy Jackson & the Olympians page this weekend, and I'll post it here once I finish it. However, our biggest headache remains to be the The Last Olympian page and the The Demigod Files page. I really doubt that we can expand the TLO page prior to release if we aren't allowed to put in the preview and known facts section. Therefore, we either let it remain a stub status until release, or we'll put back the two sects or find something else to put in. As for the TDF page, I just fixed the format and things today; however, we have to find something other than summaries to put in. The same thing also applys to all PJ books. I'd say we break this taskforce into three main parts for now:

Part One: Main Page Cleanup
Cleanup the PJ main page, and create new sections. I believe we can follow the example of Harry Potter and Narnia and so on. I'll be drafting a outline recently.

Part Two: Expand All Book Pages
Most of the book pages of PJ only contains "Plot", "Summary", "Characters", and "See also". I'd say adding "Reception" and so on sections.

Part Three: Cleanup/Rewrite/Expand Character Pages
Most of the Character pages need revamping. The format should be almost identical if possible.

That's all I have to say now. Feel free to comment! Good luck!!! --Mktsay123 (talk) 16:37, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

I'd say you've got it down. As for TLO, I almost think that, because of the limited information, it would be hard to expand it past where it is now. Most information is (as you mentioned on the talk page) speculative. Are there any solid, known, citable facts that we can put on there? DreamHaze (talk) 13:32, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

I went through most of the talk pages adding the PJTF parameter and deleting fan comments today. I found that some of the character pages deserve to be merged into a single minor character list. Also, most of the character pages have been nominated for deletion, but kept. I'd say we still have a lot of work to do for the character pages. I'll set the goal to reach class C on every single srticle for now. That would already take us a hell of time... --Mktsay123 (talk) 15:11, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

The Last Olympian

Don't really try to add much to this article until we receive more info and the book is released.N.G.G. 11:38, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Understood. We'll work on other pages then.--Mktsay123 (talk) 13:22, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

The Demigod Files

This page needs cleanup. I have already posted my viewpoint in its talk page and am again posting it here:-

  • I think that the stories should be in detail
  • I think it would be nice if the extract of the Last Olympian was included
  • I think we should scour the Internet and add a reception section --Pmlinediter (talk) 09:27, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

I posted my reply on the talk page of TDF. However, I haven't got the book yet, so I can't do much. In fact, I'm getting my copies of Book 4 PBK, TDG and TLO in May or June altogether. That may be when I can really help on the details. --Mktsay123 (talk) 10:11, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

The issues of referencing, reception, and anything else "real world" are urgent for this article. Critics review etc would be good here. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:23, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I really think that the TLO extract is becoming a headache for all PJTF members (perhaps with the exception of NGG). It was actually a discussion about the extract between me and NGG when I suggested putting up a PJ task force. I think that NGG is overdoing this a bit, surely we can include the extract when it is a part of the book. But yes, the Reception part is most important and I too will work on it as soon as I come back from my holiday. And yes, the stories should be in detail (at least the plot should include the complete storyline). And yes, please expand List of Percy Jackson and the Olympians characters. I really don't have the time now. Pmlinediter (talk) 11:33, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I know. I've read the whole of your intense discussion, so I'm pretty clear of what has happened. However, time is also an issue for me... June will be when I get more time for internet activities (and also when I get the rest of the PJ books). Will be more active then. (And anyone with more time please try to get the reception parts, thanks!) --Mktsay123 (talk) 14:36, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

B-class now :). Airplaneman talk 00:21, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

NovelsWikiProject banner

I have corrected the logic so that it is just an enhancement to the existing banner for this task force (in Template:NovelsWikiProject/sandbox currently). As part of the change needs to include a project "icon". For this we need to establish a small image or icon that should be used to denote "Percy Jackson" task force items. Currently it is set to the same as the SF task force, but this needs to change before implementation. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:08, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

It is now a go for assessments. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 18:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Merger of minor characters

I've tagged merge tags in the minor characters' pages. (Clarisse, Chiron, Zoe, Charles, Silena, and the Stoll brothers) Discuss whether merge or keep, please. Thanks. --Mktsay123 (talk) 15:58, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Keep it. I will help. Pmlinediter (talk) 07:31, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the merge. The articles alone have no real world importance. Creating good list of characters is always better. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:18, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Characters infobox?

Particularly in the light of the mereger of minor character there is no overwhelming reason to depart from the std infobox for characters. If there is good reason for some change feed it into the debate for the std infobox. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:02, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

The Lightning Thief

I have passed the article as B-class. Hopefully, all will agree. It has become PJTF's first B-class article. Pmlinediter (talk) 08:03, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Agreed - the next step would be to add real world issues such as critical comment, reviews, market reaction, sales figures (if known). etc. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:35, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
The Lightning Thief was suggested as a GA nominee and so I have nominated it for GA review. Pmlinediter (talk) 06:02, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

May 5th is almst here

Okay sorry I have been real busy with article in WP:VG but anyway, The Last Olympian is almost here and here are things you should do as a part of that project. -Buy the book as fast as you can making notes on the plot and then expanding the plot section using the cite book template. -Look out for weekend or first week sales numbers. That will help us when expanding the article for GA and when writing the Reception section. -Don't add anything unless you have a reliable source to back it up. Thanks and have fun. Hope to see you on the battlefield.--(NGG) 11:42, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I just picked up my copy a few moments ago. I will be posting parts of the plot by chapter. I will cite the section by chapter using cite book. Again, I urge all member of the TF to get a copy to help me out. I should have the plot summary of the first chapter up by tonight.--(NGG) 20:47, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah this is not working for me. I can't keep doing the whole read and stop thing. I need someone to help out with the plot. The book has 21 chapters and I just don't have time to write a 21 part summary plus it would end up being to long. So, until then, we need to think of a way to condense my summary without getting rid of the main idea and then I need someone to take over for me because I can't keep read and stopping like this. Thanks--(NGG) 01:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Jumping the Gun

Someone has already created a article for the un-official series. There are no real announcements, so I'm sure the article will be deleted soon.--(NGG) 01:54, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Title of Percy Jackson film

There has been some dispute regarding the title of the upcoming Percy Jackson film. Pmlinediter asked me to take up the issue here. Pmlinediter has moved the article to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (film) citing the AKA section of IMDb, Cinema Blend, Wikia and The Movie Insider. I believe the article should be moved to Percy Jackson (film) and cite The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Empire and Entertainment Weekly. Looking at the sources Pmlinediter has cited, Wikia and The Movie Insider are not reliable sources and IMDb states that "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" is a working title (the current title it actually has is "Percy Jackson"). That leaves Cinema Blend. Not the most reliable source and it is possibly they are going off the working title and have not updated the title yet. Anyway, looking at the sources I've provided. All are reliable sources and are all published within the last two months. They all state the title as just "Percy Jackson". I know it is a bad title for the first film but stick to what the sources say. - kollision (talk) 11:42, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

My dear Kollison, I have another source which states the title is "Percy Jackson ... Thief". It is the PJO UK site newsletter.Problem is we can't use this, can we? Cheers! Pmlinediter  Talk 12:10, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I have moved back per NGG. Thanks for your interest in PJTF articles. Pmlinediter  Talk 12:34, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

In Percy Jackson (character) I propose

NOTE: PLEASE RESPOND ON THE TALK PAGE OF THE ARTICLE, NOT HERE

The info in the History section is pretty much just restated in the In the Books section. I propose that we just cut most of the redundant stuff out of the History section that is mentioned in the other section. Thanks, Airplaneman (talk) 00:55, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

We are attempting to reach a consensus. All PJTF members are requested to comment. Pmlineditor  Talk 07:47, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

To do

I am removing any mention of expanding The Last Olympian from the "To do" list because it is very very long. Airplaneman talk 16:01, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, ok. Pmlineditor  Talk 11:11, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Nico merger

I saw the tag on his article. The tag has been there since March and is not on the article that it's supposed to be merged into. I oppose it because Nico plays a significant role in the series. His article has developed nicely and merging it into a list would make it (the list) very cumbersome to navigate. Airplaneman talk 00:35, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree with you. Nico's character was vital in the last two books. Moreover, the merger would be difficult as the article has quite some content and as you say, merging it to the list would really ruin navigation. Pmlineditor  Talk 07:45, 25 August 2009 (UTC

Camp Half-Blood merger

Please vote here.

This article is really not much and I can't see it growing much more. We can merge it into it's own section on Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Airplaneman talk 00:36, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Problems in the GAN, The Titan's Curse

Glad to see that there are already to articles in the GA status, and I've just spotted a small problem in The Titan's Curse, the current Good Article Nominee of the PJTF. I already posted on the talk page of TTC, but I figured that talk pages receives little attention, so I'm posting here again. It's about the main characters, and I'm pretty sure that we should replace Nico with Bianca, since she actually got more spotlight on her than Nico in The Titan's Curse. Also, I wonder if Annabeth should also be removed from the main character area, since she only showed up before getting captured and after getting saved. --Mktsay123 (talk) 12:18, 23 November 2009 (UTC) Note:Conversation ongoing at the talk page. Input is welcome. Airplaneman talk 08:08, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

IP claiming to be Rick Riordan

66.69.61.83 (talk · tag · contribs · count · WHOIS · ip details · trace · RBLslogs · block log · arb · rfc · lta · spi · checkuser · socks ) claims to be Rick Riordan and has been removing "misquoted" stuff from PJ articles. here and here What should we do? Extremepro (talk) 21:43, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Keep watch and revert when necessary. Editor seems to have lost interest, anyway. Airplaneman talk 23:36, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
If it was Rick Riordan, he should create a verified account... Because it probably wasn't, just keep watch. Benp123456789 (talk) 04:24, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
He's back with the same IP. It's removing errors from pages and signing edit summaries with RR. Do you think it's actually him? If so, what do we do? Rock drum (talk·contribs·guestbook) 16:35, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Probably not, but it really doesn't make a difference. If his edits are legit, leave them. If not, revert them. Just treat him like any other user. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 16:53, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
The main problem is that he is changing information, but keeping the source there. This is misleading, and should be reverted. Someone should make sure the information in the articles fit what the sources say, just to make sure it is correct, and has not been altered. Blake (Talk·Edits) 17:03, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I went back through and tried to correct a few of his edits. One of them was definitely correct and got reverted. I posted a warning on his talk about justifying his edits with policy and not just his claim to be Rick Riordan. I think it's possible that it actually is him, but he still needs to follow policy. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 17:18, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Looking Good

Hey everyone, this is NGG, haven't been editing much lately but I'm ready to help out again. I see you all have been busy with Sea of Monsters, well lets expand our horizons and push the rest of the articles up to GA or even higher. But if we all work together, sooner or later, we can get Percy Jackson back to featured topic. Anyway, just wanted to drop buy, see you all out there.----Next-Genn-Gamer 07:17, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

I won't be as active this month (busy) but will continue to help keep the articles in line! It'd be great to have PJ as a featured topic!!! Airplaneman talk 03:54, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Our page has gone "Not Flashy"..... And other stuff...

OK, I came in today finding the page has its big title gone..... A little desperating though...... Alright, to what I actually came to say: Seems like TTC is stuck at GAN, wonder if anything's wrong with it, or is it only that the reviewers aren't doing their job? Also, seems like someone has tagged the PJTO main page to be "fan-ish"... I wonder how we can fix it, or what's possibly wrong? I mean, I don't think it looks "fan-ish" to me, or maybe it's because I'm a fan myself. Anyways, seems like it isn't easy to get things on encyclopedia scale, huh? --Mktsay123 (talk) 16:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Yea... that hurt. Bad. I spent quite a lot of time organizing the page... sigh... some categories and codes got removed when the look was changed. All I was trying to do was to give the page a little life :'(. About the fan stuff - mostly in the plot summary and the Camp Half-Blood section. It's written from the fan's point of veiw because it assumes the reader knows, say, this or that guy's name. Airplaneman talk 03:53, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
What the big problem is, though, is the quality of the prose, which could be improved. It's not extremely fanlike, now that I think of it. It just needs some extreme cleanup! Airplaneman talk 04:16, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Newsletter?

Would anyone like to work with me to get a newsletter for the task force going?-- iBentalk/contribs 03:55, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Sure. You want to start something in the PJTF sandbox? I'm thinking of something like the {{WPAVIATION Announcements}} Aviation Noticeboard (link there), where they post the template on their talk page. The template is updated as needed. Check out this section on my talk page to see how it works if you haven't seen it yet. How does that sound? Airplaneman talk 06:44, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'm not sure how much good I'll actually be at contributing to it, but I'll be glad to help copy-edit (is that word used for non-articles? same idea...) it. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:34, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
I am part of the signpost so I should be able to help!-- iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 01:43, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Request for comment on Biographies of living people

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, nearly all wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced article if they are not sourced, so your project may want to pursue the projects below.

Scope of the Task Force to include "The Kane Chronicles"?

Well, seeing that The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid is due out at May 5, 2010, I'm starting to wonder if we are going to cover that critera. According to the Scope mentioned on the PJTF page, our scope includes the books, the characters, and Things related to Rick Riordan. So I wonder if we are going to cover the series. It would be reasonable to include the next Camp Half-Blood series, but what about The Kane Chronicles. Opinions?--Mktsay123 (talk) 15:52, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

My opinion would be that since we are the Percy Jackson Task Force, it's not absolutely necessary that we cover it. I would bet that some of us will still end up doing something with the articles, but it doesn't have to be part of the task force. That's my take... PrincessofLlyr (talk) 19:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't know much about The Kane Chronicles, but if the plot is related, we should cover it. Otherwise, I agree with PrincessofLlyr. Airplaneman talk 21:47, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
I did a Google search. The books are about magic in Egypt, has nothing to do with demigods or Greek mythology. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

True... it's something to consider! Airplaneman talk 04:40, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, Rick Riordan wrote something about like "the bone maze" and we didn't cover that. Unless the group wants to expand focus through consensus, let's just work on PJTF and related articles (like the next Camp Half Blood series). It's a fine line; I'm just not interested in that, maybe a different task force.--iBentalk/contribsIf you reply here, please place a talkback notification on my page. 00:44, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

new series?

i'm not sure if there is going to be some sort of new series or more percy jackson, because at the end of the "last olympian" rachel says a new prophecy that may or may not happen within the next few hundred to thousand years, maybe immediately. so i am wondering if there will be either a new book with percy or a new series entirely with a new main character. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Theraven713 (talkcontribs) 01:32, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes there will be a new series, it is called " The Heroes of Olympus" The first book is called " The Lost Hero", and the second book that has yet to come out, but will in fall 2011, is called " The Son of Neptune. Percy is in this new series, but there are some new characters. Piper, daughter of Aphrodite, Leo, son of Hepheatus, and Jason, son of Zeus. Cheers!DarkJak495 : Chat 19:44, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Character Illustrations

I noticed that in Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson) there was an illustration and I was thinking we should add some for the other characters.[discuss]--iBentalk/contribs 03:26, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

There is also one on Rachel Elizabeth Dare (Percy Jackson). Previously there were illustrations on Percy, Annabeth, and Luke, but they were deleted. I just checked, the pictures of Nico and RED are pictures from The Ultimate Guide, so it's actually questionable if those pictures can be used on WP. -Mktsay123 (talk) 03:43, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Roll Call

I'm thinking of organizing a roll call to see who's still active/interested. I (or somebody) will notify members. They will be given two months' time. Does that sound OK? Airplaneman talk 04:56, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Tyson the Cyclops article name

Who decided the name "Tyson the Cyclops?" Wouldn't it be better to just call it "Tyson (Percy Jackson)" or Tyson (Cyclops)?[discuss]-- iBen 18:56, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

It's OK either way, I think. Airplaneman talk 22:33, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I think Tyson (Percy Jackson) would work best. A lot of the characters have names that are distinct like "Clarisse La Rue" and don't require a "subtitle". Annabeth Chase is a name used somewhere else, so she is named "Annabeth Chase (Percy Jackson)". Percy Jackson is used as a Disimbag because of the series name, and "Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson)" would be stupid. So he is named "Percy Jackson (character)". Blake (Talk·Edits) 23:57, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Don't use non-free images. They can't be used outside of the articles they are meant to illustrate. See WP:NFC. I'm also concerned about the amount of content; will there be enough for a portal to be active? Airplaneman talk 04:19, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

I have to say that I agree with Airplaneman - I think we will quickly run out of content. Maybe we should just stick with dispatch. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Moving on?

I think the work preparing The Battle of the Labyrinth for GA is mostly done except for the Reception section. So why don't we start working on The Last Olympian too? Because it seems to me that we would only be able to expand the section if we hace a source to all the information. -Mktsay123 (talk) 07:25, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Any comments on this one??? -Mktsay123 (talk) 08:43, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't know...I suppose it might be worth moving on. What I can't figure out is how we've managed to get those necessary references for the other books and can't find these! PrincessofLlyr royal court 12:37, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

New Series: The Heros of Olympus

As I've written on the PJTO main page, I don't think we should start making pages for The new series yet. Though official information has been released, there's still too little to be compiled into an article. I say we at least wait till summer, which is when Rick Riordan indicated more info will be released. So I'll move that we don't support any articles as such created by good-faith editors. (Though we could start crafting the articles in the sandbox.) Comments? -Mktsay123 (talk) 03:25, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

A Query for PJTF members

Hi members of PJTF, I am currently a student in a Digital Geographies class studying computer-mediated communication and cooperation. I have really enjoyed watching the development of the articles and seeing how your Task Force works together. I think Wikipedia Signpost beat me to interviews. If anyone is interested, I humbly request your help for a class assignment. If any members would like to answer a few questions about their participation in PJTF and in Wikipedia in general, I'd greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if you're interested on my Talk page. Thanks!! --loafysam (talk) 15:34, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Our Staffing Problem

I've noticed that a fair amount of our 32 members haven't been even trying to edit. Many joined just to join. Therefore, I propose implementing a "obligations" guideline like the one at Wikipedia:MAC#Obligations. Any members not participating would be removed from the members list. What does the project think?--moɳo 00:49, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Definite problem, and that solution could work. Actually, the inactive members don't bother me, but I suppose it could make some things easier. PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:53, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
I think it might set an expectation and encourage users to participate.--moɳo 00:56, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, a good idea. I also propose telling members about this in the next PJTF report - a new roll call or something. Airplaneman 00:57, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Write it up and I'll deliver it.--moɳo 01:00, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

←Btw, the Collaboration of the Month for WP:39 is The Maze of Bones after a decent round of improvements at The 39 Clues. Princess, could you assess The 39 Clues again to see if it's changed?--moɳo 01:02, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Sure. It won't be tonight, but I'll try to get to it in the next few days. That'll make for some nice long reading! PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:34, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
A quick scan shows some refs that could use formatting (using the {{Cite}} template), multiple fact tags and general referencing problems, an in-universe style tag, and multiple sections in dire need of expansion/referencing/prose edits. It's gone a long way, but it's not close to GA status (or B class for the matter). See WP:ASSESS. Mono, I know this has happened in the past, so I'll say it just in case: please don't take it personally :). I can help a bit, but I haven't and don't plan to read The 39 Clues and therefore have little knowledge or motivation to edit/improve articles within the series' scope. Currently assessing the 100+ WP:MAC articles (down from ~400!) and working to save Macintosh, which is at WP:FAR. Airplaneman 01:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
That was my first idea, but I wanted to give it a more extensive read-through. Like I said in reply to the original invite, I'll be happy to help with vandalism and copy-editing, but there's simply not a lot I can do writing about books I've never read. I'm really sorry Mono, but I'm already a bit bogged down in things I haven't gotten done here, so unwilling to take on a new project. However, I will try to help with the main 39 Clues article sometime this summer. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:52, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Draft

Hey WikiProject Novels/Rick Riordan task force! Thanks for being a part of the Percy Jackson Task Force here on Wikipedia. We're cleaning up our list of members; the project would like to make sure all members listed are participating. Therefore, we're holding a roll call for the members of the Percy Jackson Task Force and appreciate your help by acting quickly. Before you confirm your membership, you'll want to look over the obligations for members. In order to remain a member, you must:

  • Contribute to the current PJTF collaboration and Percy Jackson articles constructively. A minimum of 10 (constructive) edits on Percy Jackson topics per month is required for members.
  • Be generally active in the affairs of the WikiProject (watchlist and participate in the General Forums, vote at AfDs, keep up with vandalism, and more).

Additionally, consider adding {{WP:PJTF/Update}} and {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User Percy Jackson task force}} to your userpage for project updates and to show off your membership. We hope you're still active and interested, as the Percy Jackson Task Force is looking for more contributions from members. Also, check out ways to help the project. Thanks, ~~

Made some edits to it. Airplaneman 03:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Couple of points for discussion. 1. "Cleaning up" instead of "clearing out"? We are not literally clearing out the list. 2. Both PJTF update and userbox? I have the userbox but haven't bothered with the update because I have all of our stuff watchlisted, including the home page for the update box, and can't find a good place on my page to put it. Those are my comments. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:27, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Movie sequel?

We've deleted most references to a sequel movie because of unreliable sources and WP:NFF. However, as it seems that things about it keep cropping up, would it be an acceptable compromise to put a blurb about there being rumors of a sequel? That acknowledges the possibility without saying that it is a verifiable fact that the sequel is being made. PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:45, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

I interpret WP:RS quite strictly; I'd say no until reliable sources are found. If reliable sources exist telling about the rumor, then I'd be OK with it. Airplaneman 22:06, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Okay, here's what I've got so far. Outside of the various fan sites, in an interview with IndieLondon, Chris Columbus said, "For me as a director I hope there is enough success on Percy Jackson that there is a second one because I would jump right into that. I would do the next book in the series. I think you have to do them in order." Movie-Moron posted an article about the speculation here. It quotes C.C. as saying, “If we are successful enough, I’d love to make another film almost immediately with these guys. We had a wonderful time. I love the enthusiasm and lack of cynicism. I want to go back to work quickly”, but I can't find a source for that online. The same quotes are used here. So, what do you think? PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:11, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
No. A mention is OK; an article isn't appropriate.--moɳo 03:21, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
A mention in a section somewhere seems OK. A redirect should be created for the time being to discourage recreation, if it doesn't already exist. Airplaneman 04:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
WP:SALT if it's a problem. moɳo 05:02, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Considered that, but wouldn't a redirect be more useful if a section mention is going to be provided (it'll redirect to that section)? Airplaneman 05:08, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

I was never planning to create an article, just have a mention about the rumors and the fact that C.C. has expressed interest in making a sequel. I figure it could go in a section under "film" in the main PJ&TO article and a small section at the end of Lightning Thief film. Redirect is probably the best idea. Time to create The Heroes of Olympus and The Lost Hero pages?

Well... The cover has come out and excerpts have been released... It's the end of June and we're going into July... so, are we going to create pages for The Heroes of Olympus and The Lost Hero? It seems that the work on Percy Jackson pages are kinda stuck, so maybe we start a new collabration stuff? -Mktsay123 (talk) 09:04, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, when do they come out again? PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:07, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
May I just point out that I have a draft for the article in my userspace that I don't mind people editing, so long as it is not a waste of time and is used. BTW, the books are coming out in October (I think). Rock drum Ba-dumCrash 16:30, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the reminder. I think we would probably be safer waiting until they're actually published. We have info about them on R.R.'s article and the main PJ&tO's article, so that's good for now. PrincessofLlyr royal court 16:49, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking about publishing it a small time before their publication. Regards, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash 18:25, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess that'll be fine. I'll take a look at the draft. -Mktsay123 (talk) 16:11, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
The draft looks good. I'll try to edit a little tommorow, it's kinda late here as I'm typing. Oh, and I thought I should mention that there's already a The Lost Hero article living out there and survived two AfDs, so I guess it's there to stay. Support or not until near release?-Mktsay123 (talk) 16:19, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, we may as well take care of it. If it comes to another AfD !voting is up to personal opinion (hopefully backed by policy), but unless that happens, I see no reason why we can't improve the page and keep it clean. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:24, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, I've put the Novels Project Tag on the page and marked it as Start and low importance for both PJTF and Wikiproject Novels. I didn't touch the Children Literature part. I also added a {{fantasy-novel-stub}} at the end of the page. If I did anything wrong, please help me correct it, thanks. -Mktsay123 (talk) 23:41, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking it's time to move the page from my user space into article space. What do you guys think? Thanks, 09:37, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Bianca di Angelo - Main characters?

Bianca's listed as a main character on the List of Percy Jackson & the Olympians characters. Is she really a main character? Clarisse isn't even listed as a main character and she shows up more than Bianca. Then again, if we move her from "main", does she go under "demigods" or "immortals"? What does everyone think? PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:45, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't really say that she's a main character. I think she should go under demigods as well. Thanks, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Review me) 19:10, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
Yup, remove. I would consider her a supporting character. Airplaneman 19:12, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

And done. Airplaneman 19:15, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

  • She would be listed under immortals, since she joined the Hunters of Artemis. Although it is not true inmortality, because you can die in battle, or if you break your oath, you will die. Yet she is a demigod. I disagree with Airplaneman, she shouldn't be listed under a surporting character, because in the Titan's Curse, she is one of the five quest members. So that would make her a main character. DarkJak495 : Chat 21:25, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Battle of the Labyrinth/The Last Olympian

Hey, it's Next-Genn-Gamer, I haven't been active for a while so now that I'm back, I need a couple people to help me finally push Battle of the Labyrinth and the Last Olympian to GA status, I can handle of the other sections as long as someone can promise to finish off the plot section. The taskforce has kinda cooled off since the series came to an end and when we faced a major difficulty in pushing The Battle of the Labyrinth to GA... Percy Jackson task force articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Percy Jackson task force articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

The Heroes of Olympus

I suggest that, considering the new series is out, we change our name to the 'Camp Half-Blood Task Force'. Harry Blue5 (talk) 21:51, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't object, but is this really important? It'll just take tons of page moves. If we "rebrand", I suggest just being called the Rick Riordan task force or something so we can cover all of his books. Airplaneman 23:09, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Someone could get confused, or some such. Worst case scenario, a confused Wikipedian makes a new Heroes of Olympus task force. At the least, someone might get a bit confuzzled and figure it out after about 5 seconds. We're not rebranding so much as renaming because the series isn't called 'Percy Jackson' anymore. That said, I'm a bit uncertain about the Rick Riordan task force idea, but I don't see too much wrong with it. Harry Blue5 (talk) 23:57, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
And we probably won't need to move too many pages. We can leave the stuff like Tyson (Percy Jackson) as it is. Harry Blue5 (talk) 00:05, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
No, we have a few project pages we need to move; articles can stay put. And we could always absorb a task force created in good faith and/or delete the page(s). Anyhow, a rename means leaving a whole mess of redirects lying around, which I don't mind too much, but still... Airplaneman 01:47, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with the Aviator that it seems like unnecessary work. I had even considered it earlier, but honestly, The Lost Hero has a lot about the original PJ&tO characters from what I can tell. If nothing else, it's early to rename. I say give it some time and if we run into confusion we can consider it. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:42, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

I said 'too many'. I didn't say there were no pages we'd need to move. Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with keeping this as it is for now, I suppose. Harry Blue5 (talk) 07:35, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I would presume Jason Grace is top-importance, right? Harry Blue5 (talk) 09:46, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Wait, so Percy's top-importance, Grover's mid, and Annabeth is high. I'm confused. Harry Blue5 (talk) 09:48, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Sure, Jason's top. Percy is top because he's the main character of the entire first series. Annabeth is high because she is the main character's love interest and right-hand girl. Grover is only mid because he's just the main character's sidekick. He could possibly also be high, but I don't know that it matters. PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:35, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I personally believe Grover should be high (not the other characters, though, they can stay at mid). Appearing in all the books and in the movie helps him. I'd also say Tyson, but his lack of appearance in the movie probably loses him notability and effectively class-level. Also, would Piper and Leo be high or top? The characters have loads of chapters from their point of view. Harry Blue5 (talk) 15:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Sure, you can make Grover high is you want. Piper and Leo definitely would be. Honestly, we're not super worried about most stuff like that because the task force is fairly small, so we keep track of all the articles, even the low-importance ones, unlike a larger project might. PrincessofLlyr royal court 15:21, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Our Number 1 and Number 2 Problems

I've noticed that a lot of our articles would be given a higher rating on the quality scale if only they had more references (Example) and if we could find more reviews(Example) we would be a lot better off. Is this a major issue for the rest of you? Wondering, Winner 42 ( Talk to me! ) 22:52, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it bothers me. Good ones (both refs and reviews) are hard to find, which is frustrating. Airplaneman 05:00, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

The Lost Hero importance

I just started looking over the page today because I finished the book yesterday. It's off to a terrific start - C-class already! Currently it's listed as only mid-importance for PJTF. I was thinking high-importance would be accurate. Anyone else agree? PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:03, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Sure, go ahead! -Mktsay123 (talk) 15:45, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
