Hi @TrademarkedTarantula, I hope you are doing good. We successfully finished/completed our first sprint and your help + support is very much appreciated. I am thankful for your contributions to this project. Tbh I was really motivated with your joining to this collab since that was the moment when I was considering to quit from this particular project. Constituency maps

On 456Legend's request, I'll be creating the constituency locator maps for AP's assembly constituencies. They will be uploaded to commons:Category:Locator maps of Assembly constituencies of Andhra Pradesh. I started with 5 and i'll update this thread whenever i upload more. If one of you could help with some of the work, it would help me to create the images faster. I'm doing the work necessary for Srikakulam.

• On commons:
  • The image needs to be linked to the wikidata item related to the constituency (diff)
  • A link to the wikipedia page needs to be added to the description (diff)
• On wikidata, the image needs to be added as a new statement (diff)
• On wikipedia, the image needs to be added as a map_image parameter in the infobox (diff). Add an appropriate caption too at this time, if you want. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:46, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Please try to use the "update after" template instead of "As of"

Hey guys, i see that you are recommending that people use the As of template in the lead of the constituency articles. The only problem with this is that, after a few years, it clutters up this bambots category, and since it cannot be updated, it will remain there until the next election. Instead, if you use the update after template, setting the year to 2024 and the month to 7 (to give the ECI enough time to publish the results on their site), it would only show in bambots once we've crossed that month. Nope. The link now shows 119 constituencies needing coordinates. The Petscan tool was down for a while. Also, sometimes you need to click the "Do it!" button after page load. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:05, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

What I've been doing is to have 2 digits after the decimal point for assembly constituencies, and 1 digit for Lok Sabha constituencies. If the constituency is one of a few in the same city, then an additional digit is probably necessary. 2 digits is about 1km accuracy, and 3 digits is about 100m accuracy. Most constituencies are named after a town or city, so I just pick a spot somewhere in the middle of the city on google maps, and then round off. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:29, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Good job, folks. 7 constituencies are still missing coords, but I assume that you are getting to it. Besides that, you can keep an eye on the cleanup listing, for any new constituencies that get added there. I hope you also consider doing this for other states once you are done here. KL and TN constituencies need quite a lot of gnoming. I'm happy to suggest states that are not southern too :-) -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:44, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
