Changes for the committee
editThis aim "welcoming committee members welcome new users who have already made constructive edits and help them get started in various ways. There are no requirements for joining us except a good attitude and a willingness to help newcomers get started on Wikipedia" seems to be unfair for some reasons. Here on Wikipedia, civility and help should remain the highest priority to keep maintaining the pedia. I believe every newbie should be welcomed. Reason: it will serve as an evidence that the editor was welcomed with links to know how where he/she enters is like. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:01, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
Template not substituting
editHi, {{W-basic}} doesn't substitute the person's name properly, see User talk:KaiParker2024 for an example. This is probably me doing something dumb but I can't see what it is Kowal2701 (talk) 19:04, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
New 'find newbies' template
editThere is a new template available called {{welcome needed}}. The motivation of this template is editor retention, and the idea is to find users who do not have a welcome template yet, but who already have been warned by somebody using one of the user warning templates. The idea of the template is to mitigate the chilling effect of having a somewhat threatening-looking warning on your page before anybody has even welcomed you yet. The template generates an advanced search link to find such newbies, so you can welcome them before they disappear forever. Example: {{welcome needed}} → search link. This is a brand new template, and feedback is welcome at its Talk page. Mathglot (talk) 10:49, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
