Floods in Afghanistan

edit

...came to the Floods in Afghanistan page, because of the present, 2024 Afghanistan flood reports... Someone already hastily (and IMO sloppily) started a 2024 Afghanistan-Pakistan floods stub. So while this is an annual event, sadly, there are numerous annual pages. I would like to clarify the existing formal issues on the child pages (stubs) named in the List of Floods in Afghanistan:

  • Should these annual event stubs not be named uniformly? For example plural versus singular etc
  • Shouldnt they be created separately for Afghanistan and Pakistan -or together as occurred in two cases: 2013 Pakistan–Afghanistan floods?
  • or If there is as little editorial attention to these pages as it seems,(probably also lack of subsequent reporting about the event) shouldnt the info of these pages be better presented in a table?

Before starting an RfC on Talk:Floods in Afghanistan I am posting this here and on the respective Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disaster management and Wikipedia:WikiProject Weather/Floods task force pages in the hope that someone comments. Wuerzele (talk) 09:19, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Developing Countries WikiContest

edit

Starting this July, we will see a new contest on the scene - the Developing Countries WikiContest (WP:DCWC)! Think of it as a WikiCup but only for articles and media on developing countries.

Competitors may submit GAs, GTs, FAs, FTs, FLs, FPs, and DYK and ITN entries from/on developing countries to gain points and proceed to further rounds. Points are also awarded to those who review GAs, FAs and FLs.

Afghanistan is listed as a least-developed country for the purposes of this contest, which means Afghanistan-related submissions to the contest will get a multiplier in points. I encourage everyone here to sign up and compete with editors from around the world to create high-quality content!

Append your name to the DCWC signup page today!

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon

edit

Hello WikiProject Afghanistan:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
