In FireFox on Ubuntu Linux, content in edit comment bar keeps selecting itself (not MediaWiki's fault)

In FireFox, there is a known issue in which text keeps selecting itself while typing. For instance, I'll be typing in the edit comment bar, and after every character I type, the text will select itself, and so if I type another character without de-selecting, it will be deleted. I know this isn't MediaWiki's or Wikipedia's fault, but given that it's a common issue, has anyone come up with a fix or workaround, other than tabbing out and tabbing back in?
