The course is focused on the identification of aquatic and wetland plants, primarily of the Gulf Coastal Plain of the southern United States. We also address topics such as different wetland plant communities, aquatic plant morphology, laws and regulations on wetlands, and wetland delineation. I would like to see students find a plant species, plant genus, or group of aquatic or wetland plants that is poorly represented on Wikipedia and provide media (mainly photographs from the field, lab, or under microscope) and scholarly content. For example, some groups are fairly well done (e.g., Xyris, Juncus, Rhynchospora); others are choppy, have no associated images, or do not seem to correspond to typical Wikipedia articles (e.g., Peltandra, Lindernia, Gratiola).
