Information literacy is often considered to be synonymous with the ability to do research, but it encompasses a great deal more. This course will address information literacy through the lens of metaliteracy, a wider conception that emphasizes your role as both information consumer and information creator in a collaborative, open environment. Expect to examine and expand your conception of how you interact with information. Metacognition, or thinking about one’s own thinking, is a critical component of being metaliterate, and will be emphasized throughout the course.

Please note what it says on page 4 of the Choose Your Article Excercise--that you need to consult with me before assigning yourself an article. I will review the 3 choices you submit and then get back to you via the Blackboard submission for this assignment as to whether I think any of the articles will be problematic for you.
As you consider possible articles to submit, remember that these should be connected to your major, particularly if you are in a major that requires this course.

If you are interested in editing an article that is in any way related to health, you will need to complete this assignment. You can skip it if your topic doesn't fit in this category.

Every student has finished reviewing their assigned articles, making sure that every article has been reviewed.
- Assignment - Continue improving your article
Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media. You are doing this in your sandbox. You will start moving your content to the actual Wikipedia article later in Week 6 or even in Week 7.

You have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.

Week 7

It's the final week to develop your article.
- Read Editing Wikipedia page 15 to review a final check-list before completing your assignment.
- Don't forget that you can ask for help from your Wikipedia Expert at any time!
- Remember that there is a grading rubric specifically for our course in Blackboard. You will be completing it and turning it in.

Everyone should have finished all of the work they'll do on Wikipedia, and be ready for grading.
