Wikipedia:WikiProject Wales/Awaken the Dragon/Missing photograph hotlist
During the WikiProject Wales/Awaken the Dragon editathon, extra points can be gained by editors for taking photographs. Currently requested images are contained in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Wales, but because the editathon will concentrate on buildings and places, the relevant photo request hotlist is being extracted and listed below.
There will be a particular emphasis on photographing listed buildings and monuments. At present we are missing many photographs of listed buildings in Wales from every county. Additionally, in instances where a freely available photo already exists on Wikipedia or Wikipedia Commons, a request may have been made for a better image, or image of another aspect of the subject. These additional requests are listed here too.
Instructions
editThough all photographs of Wales are welcome, they will generally score very low points unless they're on the hotlist. Photographs should be uploaded to the Wiki Commons, rather than wikipedia, and must have the appropriate licensing (freely usable without non-commercial restrictions) to be acceptable. If you're uploading banks of photos of the same building or town, please consider creating categories and subcategories to organize your photographs and be descriptive with file names and descriptions. Don't upload a photograph and just call it (for example) hjgg;;aaaaaaafarmhouse.jpg. Try to include a building name and town if you can, (for example) Llanderfel Farmhouse, Fairwater.jpg . If it's a listed building, it also helps if you can provide a link (in the description of the photo on Commons) to the relevant page on the listed buildings website, britishlistedbuildings.co.uk e.g. in Llanderfel Farmhouse's case here. When judging the contest, participants who take special care to organize and describe their files will be noted.
Once you have succesfully uploaded your image to Commons, please add {{tick|20}} [[File:Your_file_name.jpg|50px]] ~~~ after the appropriate entry on this page below.
If you are a participant in the Awaken the Dragon competition, please also add the link to your photo [[:File:Your_file_name.jpg]] 50/25 points (points appropriate to subject) to your list of entries at Awaken the Dragon/Entries.
Finally, if you want to submit a photo of a listed building or populated place that is not currently on one of the lists below, feel free to ping User:Sionk on the Talk page of this hotlist. They will endeavour to add valid entries that currently lack a suitable photo.
Scoring
editTo gain maximum points the photographs need to be of decent quality, have the subject as their main focus and be correctly uploaded to Wikimedia. An irretrievably poor quality photo (out of focus, low resolution or subject not the main focus) will only get 50% of the available points and the photo request may be held open in the hope that a better photo can be found.
Photos of any Grade I listed building on the hotlist will be awarded a maximum of 50 points. Poor quality photo achieves 20 points.
Photos of anything else on the hotlist will get a maximum of 25 points. Poor quality photo achieves 10 points.
