Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Peer review/SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle
I'd like to get this article to Featured status sometime, but at the moment nobody's sure what to do next. I'd like to know where the article is now, and what needs to be done to improve it to, say, Good Article, as a stepping stone. Thanks, CaptainVindaloo t c e 22:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
After a quick look over, I have a few suggestions.
- You start in the lead by describing gameplay a little. That needs to be expanded into a well written section completly decribing the gameplay. Someone who's never played the game should understand. Done
The list of the weapons needs to go, and I suggest intergrating the paragragh at the bottom into a gameplay section.- Several images, but none have a fair use rationale, and one has two license tags. Look at some FA Articles and their images to see what a rationale is if you don't know. Done
- The "versions" needs to be put in a development section which tells about the game's development. In development, also include stuff about developer interviews, problems, and previews.
- The missions section needs to be turned into prose, more like describing the missions in the game, not giving a complete list of every single one. Done
- The reception section needs to be expanded. Again, look at FAs or GAs for ideas, but you are supposed include prose and/or quotes, and scores. Then elaborate on what critics liked and didn't like.
- Lots more references. I always say use Template:cite web, and there are places if you need help sourcing.
That's all for now.--Clyde (talk) 04:28, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh yes, and also
- If there is anything to be added about mods or audio, you might consider adding that (if you do, be careful to make the mods section encyclopedic and not spam or cruft).
- Finally, you have included a spoiler tag, but no end spoiler. Done

- Thanks. I've added sources and fairuse rationales to all the images. Hope you don't mind if I mark each of your suggestions as 'done' as I go along. CaptainVindaloo t c e 17:18, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sure go ahead. If there's a problem, I'll let you know, but otherwise that should be fine. Also with the images, you may want you to reduce the size of the images. 400-600 by 400-600 px is usually most acceptable.--Clyde (talk) 17:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've prosified the missions section and merged it into the story section. A proof read of the new version would be useful. I've also resized the images and added {{endspoiler}}. CaptainVindaloo t c e 16:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I did some formatting and the like, but only took a brief look at the missions. From what I can tell, I think you need to transition between the missions a little bit better. I'm not much of a copyeditor though.--Clyde (talk) 22:21, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not completely happy with the rewrite either. I'll keep trying to think of improvements. Maybe explain the storyline faction-by-faction? I may add some better gameplay screenshots, and a characters section. If I add a character list, I can cut and paste police mugshot style photos from the mission briefing screens. - I think it would be best to have a character or faction section before missions in the plot section. Then you can write the missions section with more ease, since the reader can refer to a character section. As for screenshots, you don't need many more. If you find a good gameplay screenshot, I would not add it in, I would replace the existing one, this. Personally, I think the gameplay section needs more expansion as well.--Clyde (talk) 01:58, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about that image. It's quite hard to take a good picture of an action sequence, for some reason. That the player's gun is never shown on the HUD is one sticking point, so they can't be engineered easily. I'll try to get a better one. CaptainVindaloo t c e 03:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
