Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Project audit

The project has many FA's, so we tend to forget about some of the older ones. Hence, we need a project audit for these featured articles. Some are in better shape than others, but some might be on the verge of removal. Here is a list of the ones promoted before 2009, separated by year.

Needs about 15 more sources. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

I do agree that some more sources are needed outside of the NHC, but I don't think we need a hard limit. –Juliancolton | Talk 23:20, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Y It was on TFA back in January, which counts as an audit. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:30, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needs many more sources. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

Haven't really looked into this much, but I'd be careful asking for more sources on storms like this. Though John may have been meteorologically significant, a low-impact Pacific storm over 15 years ago isn't likely to have a lot of outside media coverage. –Juliancolton | Talk 23:22, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is no discussions in the article. For a storm that long there should be about 5. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

MH is WAY too long. Recerate the MH sub article . Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

I don't think that's really necessary to be honest. I could probably condense it a bit, but the storm's long and complex history justifies such a lengthy section. One major issue, though, is the dozens of out-of-date NCDC references. If nobody else wants to sort them out I can do it this week sometime. –Juliancolton | Talk 23:17, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some consistency issues at first glance, but nothing major (maybe some deadlinks? I didn't check.) –Juliancolton | Talk 23:19, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More sub-articles. Possibly redo the article in the new-style season format. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:32, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ive started to add inflation templates if i can be asked later ill finish it off. Other than that i think the article could do with a bit more info if available and is up to scratch.Jason Rees (talk) 16:05, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's up for featured topic right now, so it's been tidied up over the past week. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:32, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The addition of a Seasonal effects chart would be good.Jason Rees (talk) 00:21, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quite a bit of it is sourced to a blog. –Juliancolton | Talk 19:48, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I found alternative sources for two of the facts sourced to that blog so I changed them. As for the rest, I couldn't verify them elsewhere so the net result is addition by subtraction, to use a tired cliche. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 03:49, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The NCDC links in this article have slipped to an event in October 2006 i tried looking for them but couldnt find them. - If you do find them please webcite them to avoid the links slipping again.Jason Rees (talk) 02:17, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing here (unless if you really badly want to merge it). Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

Ugh, this article again. :-) To be perfectly honest – I wouldn't fight tooth and nail to keep this article around anymore, and I should acknowledge that I may have overreacted a couple years ago when it was the subject of substantial controversy. I still like the fact that it sets a precedent for articles, and indeed featured articles, on lesser-known subjects where there isn't a lot to say. And it's still a pretty good article. However, I have come to think that if folks want to condense it and merge it, it might not be a terrible idea. On the other hand, it's a good example of some of the most polished and tweaked text on Wikipedia. Perhaps we as a project need to calmly revisit this? –Juliancolton | Talk 23:32, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Im not commenting either way yet on whether to merge it but the NWS Honolulu August 2007 Precipitation Summary link is dead.Jason Rees (talk) 23:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
