Wikipedia:WikiProject South Africa/Style guide/Government/Cabinet
Acts | Cabinet | Department | Election | Ministry | Party | Public Figure | WP:ZA |
During their first term in office, the article must be named Cabinet of <name here>
followed by their abbreviated or full name, depending on what is most commonly used. If elected for a second term in office, you must move and redirect the original article to a page titled First Cabinet of <name here>
and the new cabinet must be labelled Second Cabinet of <name here>
.
Many of the politicians between 1910-1994 were listed using their initials and surname. Some of their individual articles are titled using their full name, but for the cabinet table listing it must match the naming conventions of the time. We follow the style laid out by Wikipedia Manual of Style, which states "an initial is followed by a full stop (period) and a space (e.g. J. R. R. Tolkien)". While this convention must apply to the article title (e.g. First Cabinet of J. B. M. Hertzog), you can leave out the space when displaying the names in the article itself.
Lead
editThe lead section must mention and link to the respective general election, then summarise the key points about the cabinet.
The article must start with the Infobox government cabinet, please use the complete template and do not alter it (e.g. like deleting unused tags) as it may be used in future.
History
editWhat was the political climate during the lead up and term of this cabinet.
Death or Resignation
editThis section is exclusive to the head of government or head of state, the ministers and their deputies have the Shuffle section. A cabinet is defined by the elected head of government during the respective general election. If the head of government dies or resigns during their term in office, the name of the cabinet does not change. So for example, during D.F. Malan's Second Term he resigned as Prime Minister and his successor was elected by Parliament - not in a general election. In that example you would briefly elaborate on the events surrounding the resignation (in this section) and note it in the Infobox government cabinet, as follows:
People and organisations | |
---|---|
Head of government | Prime Minister Hans Strydom |
Head of government's history | Prime Minister D.F. Malan (resigned in 1954) |

Shuffle
editThis section must describe each cabinet shuffle, which is defined as the death, resignation, dismissal or moving of a minister to a different department.
