Wikipedia:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology/Slovakia Municipality task force
Welcome to the Slovakia Municipality task force of WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology.
Scope
edit- Found on
Wikipediaand Wikimedia Commons, each of the 2,891 municipalities, towns, and cities in Slovakia has a "unique" flag to go with it. (There are various repeats, it's bound to happen with only 6 colors and 10 stripes)
Participants
editFlag File Convention
edit- Flags are uploaded in SVG format and follow the naming convention of [city name]-[district name]-flag.svg for cities and [borough name]-[city name]-flag.svg for boroughs/neighborhoods
- Flags are recommended to have a black outline in order to help define the edges of the flags.
- Flags are displayed horizontally.
Municipal Flag Design
edit- Flags will have a 2:3 aspect ratio
- Flags will use the following six colors:
Red | Green | Blue | Yellow | White | Black |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
#e3000b | #006239 | #0158a0 | #feed01 | #ffffff | #000000 |
- Flags will have a Swallowtail shape, with either two tails or three tails. Two tailed flags are often reserved for a district's center town or large cities. The tails will be placed horizontally at 2/3 of the distance, they will usually be placed vertically between the 2nd and 3rd stripes though this varies often.
-
Bratislava, a large city, has 2 tails
-
Kráľovce-Krnišov, a village of 130 people, has 3 tails
- Flags will either have the design of 1-10 horizontal stripes or an X-pattern1, some rare flags will also have vertical stripes as well. The number of stripes is determined by the size of the smallest stripe, any stripe on the flag larger than that is treated as multiple smaller stripes of the same color next to each other.
-
Nitra, which technically is 1 stripe
-
Bátovce, 2 stripes
-
Donovaly, 3 stripes
-
Kapušany, 4 stripes
-
Boťany, 5 stripes
-
Ruská Bystrá, 6 stripes
-
Trnávka, 7 stripes
-
Somotor, 8 stripes
-
Dolné Saliby, 9 stripes
-
Rudňany, 10 stripes
-
Liptovský Hrádok, an X-flag
-
Podhradie, another X-flag
-
Levoča, 3 horizontal stripes and 2 vertical stripes
1. This rule, as is the rule of rules, will sometime be broken such as with Trnava and Žilina.

Raster Replacement
edit100% completed (estimate)
A variety of pages across various Wiki pages still use the raster versions of flags, these should be replaced with their SVG versions. Many of these uses are from the flag being associated on the WikiData page.
SVG Renaming
edit100% completed (estimate)
There are some flags that are uploaded in SVG, but do not follow the [city]-[district]-flag.svg format
SVG Revamping
edit100% completed (estimate)
Some flags are uploaded with bad colors or a lack of borders
Missing Flags
edit58.2% completed (estimate)
There's still quite a number of municipalities who's flags have not yet been added. Adding flags need to

- Be added to the Wikimedia region gallery
- Be added to the town's wikipedia infobox (this might not be necessary if the page used a infobox template)
