I recently declined Draft:Rebecca Masri MBE. I'm unsure if the bio meets notability, and would welcome some 2nd opinions. Is this a WP:ONEEVENT issue, because of her recent appointment as member of the Order of the British Empire? Or is this a "well-known and significant award" that meets the general criteria of WP:ANYBIO? Thanks. -- Eclipsed (talk) (email) 07:05, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I left them the template warning that they must change their username. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:58, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Artpromoters had wrote an article on the life and works of Hemraj. We had given all sorts of information and sources in context of the article, but our request was declined? This is our humble request to the Wikipedia to look again to the article and send all the details, what is require to make an article.

Artpromoters (talk) 08:09, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One of the first things that is required of a Wikipedia article is not to use promotional language like "One is stunned by the deep emotion and yet highly intellectual pleasure that we can extricate from his art". Especially if it is copy-pasted from elsewhere. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:19, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir/Madam,

I feel that the references which I have added following the recommendation of the first review made to my page are reliable ones and also come from third-party sources. I understand the difficulty for you to discern whether the references are third-party ones or not, mainly because some of them are in Maltese and I feel that it was this problem which led to this page to be declined for the second time and for the same reason as the first time.

Mr. Ciantar is considered a notable person in Malta but not elsewhere. This, however should not mean that he can't have a page which praises his works and achievements. There are many other Maltese personalities who had someone someone who tried to make a page to honour their achievements like how I did for Mr. Ciantar and these were declined on the same basis. If such attitude persists towards pages dedicated to notable Maltese people, very few pages will praise the work of Maltese people simply because the material which notes their notability is in Maltese and not in English.

I hope that you take the necessary steps in order to facilitate the entry of pages on notable people who come from small countries like Malta so that justice will be made with these people. Moreover, I expect a clarification on how I can improve the references in order to be accepted next time since I really doubt that there is any more material online on Mr. Ciantar. Today he's a veteran radio presenter so his achievements were made during a time where the internet didn't exist; moreover, we Maltese do not have much of an impact on the Internet due to our small population so that is why it will be difficult to find any more material online.

Thank you. Micmalti (talk) 10:23, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Micmalti. The English Wikipedia does not have an unjust or unreasonable attitude towards coverage of people from Malta. In fact, we have a WikiProject, although not a very active one, dedicated to improving coverage of Malta and its people. It is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Malta and its talk page is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Malta. I do agree with you that sadly coverage of Maltese people on the English Wikipedia is not very good... the only Featured, Good and B class articles about Maltese people seem to be of Prime Ministers, Grand Masters, and governors.
But, don't despair. Sources do not have to be online to be reliable and useable on Wikipedia, nor do they necessarily have to be in English. So for example the recognized Wikipedia Good Article Culture of Malta uses the following as a reference:

L. Cutajar, "X'Igħidu l-Għarab fuq Malta", Il-Malti (1932), pp. 97–8.

... and there are also other similar references there, in both Maltese and Italian. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:14, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is also the Maltese language Wikipedia which appears to be at https://mt.wiki.x.io/ which may have different notability guidelines to the English one, or interpret them differently. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:23, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Arthur goes shopping, thank you for your reply. I'd like to ask you what's wrong with my references since they all come from third-party sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Micmalti (talkcontribs) 09:45, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi .. This is Sonam R Thakur, crew member of DS Creations Entertainment Private Limited. We have submitted an article on Casting Director Mr. Dinesh Sudarshan Soi. He has done noticiable work in Pollywood, Bollywood and also for Television as a Casting Director. Infact he has casted more than 600 projects. We have even submitted 2 External Links ie IMDb and Facebook page. Also given references of 5 articles which are there on one of the top most websites. There is much more on Google if anyone searches about Dinesh Soi. Even then every time article is getting declined. May we know the reason for the same. And how can we create that article? I am new to Wikipedia and wants to get started with this. Please reply with your valuable feedback. Thanks ..

Sonam R Thakur (talk) 13:11, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Sonam R Thakur:, you had some major formatting problems that made the article very hard to read, I have fixed most of them. For future reference, for now please do not use the "ref group" and "ref name" codings since you're not understanding them, just use the basic "ref" coding for footnotes.
Now that I've cleaned it up, I note the sourcing is not bad, but needs improving. You're relying very heavily on Tellychakar, which seems a pretty casual/gossipy/puffball kind of journal (though it appears famous). We'd like to see more serious coverage of Dinesh from Times of India, DNA India, and other such major newspapers and/or film industry journals, not simple "tell us about your favorite color!" easy and friendly interviews.
  • Next, you're not quite understanding how to footnote. Dinesh is not the author of all those articles, but the subject, so you should have the name of the person who wrote the article in the author field.
  • Do not cite IMDB as a source, and don't cite Wikipedia as a source; you can wikilink to Wikipedia articles (the clickable blue words), but you can't cite them as footnotes. Please remove all footnotes to IMDB or Wikipedia.
  • When listing items, bullet each new items with a "*"; I have fixed the first few in your draft for you.
Mainly, you need to make the formatting fixes, and add in stronger and more credible sourcing that discusses and analyzes Dinesh's career, not just asks him easy friendly questions. You need to show that he receives serious media coverage. Please make the needful changes, and then click Resubmit. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:55, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I dont know why my article can not accept. 'Nico Carpentier' is Professor in media and communication , he has many good works and reputation in his fields, I just make his introduction in wikipedia so that I would like to let more and more people know his research achievements . Let me know , how can you accept my submission? He is not supper star but he is professor, im not sure if he is qualified to introduce his in wikipedia? Im looking forward to your reply.

Jidayiming (talk) 16:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Jidayiming. From reading your Draft, it is not clear to me that Carpentier meets the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability (academics). If he does not, then Wikipedia does not need an article about him yet.
I would also note that statements like "is considered a significant contribution in the field of (media) participatory theory", need to have a reference to independent reliable sources which say so... not just a reference to the book in question itself. Providing evidence of independent reliable sources which discuss his work and its significance, is useful in helping to prove his notability by Wikipedia's standards. In what way is this draft article different than the many other useful "list of" articles in Wikipedia? (List of...)

Pafideas (talk) 20:59, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The content of the list is your own arbitrary selection. Though sources have been provided for individual entries, the sources do not indicate that those are actually the highest, which is the purported purpose of the list.
The original purpose of the article was to promote the website of a religious group (which 'coincided' with a campaign by the site's publisher to promote the website), as seen in the revision at the time of the previous draft submission review.[1] Though the biased nature of the article has been slightly improved since, there's no evidence that the promotional intent has changed.
The sources used in support of the religious website as 'the most translated' (which may or may not be true) are a Zimbabwe newspaper (which explicitly cited the publisher's campaign to promote the website) and two blogs, the latter of which are not usable sources on Wikipedia.--Jeffro77 (talk) 09:41, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
