Jon Rahm   1,478,958   This Spanish golfer won the Masters Tournament and returned to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie   1,273,498   Oh yeah, Mario time! Nintendo's mascot had a second chance in theaters 30 years after one disastrous live-action adaptation with a cartoon that's fun for both children and those whose fandom dates back to when games where in cartridges. Reviewers were not as enamoured given the movie's plot is as basic as most Super Mario games (maybe a sequel adapting one of the RPGs can improve on that? and let's just say I'd have liked the post-credits scene better if it was a character that wasn't shown in a previous scene!). But audiences love Mario and Luigi so much the movie made half a billion in just two weeks, already becoming the highest-grossing video game movie ever.
Beef (TV series)   1,118,414   In spite of the nice steak to the left, this Netflix show is named after a feud, namely of Steven Yeun and Ali Wong holding a nasty grudge on each other after almost having a car accident.
Deaths in 2023   960,953   Turn back, hypnotic
There's breathing out, but not back in
Staring into black light
Permanently midnight...

Boston Marathon bombing   694,427   April 15 marked 10 years since two brothers bombed the finish line of the Boston Marathon, citing a motive of revenge for American military action in Afghanistan and Iraq. Three people died and 281 injuried in the bombing. One brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, died on April 19, 2013 due to multiple injuries following a shoot-out with police. The second brother, #14, remains on death row.
Israel Adesanya   619,508   This Nigerian-New Zealander fighter held his middleweight championship belt after winning at UFC 287.
Succession (TV series)   616,572   This TV series is ending soon, with an episode of the final season coming out this week, to critical acclaim, as it temporarily became the top episode of all time on IMDB.
B. R. Ambedkar   596,930   India celebrated the architect of their constitution (who is dubbed The Greatest Indian when a certain someone is excluded) on his birth anniversary, unveiling a 175-ft statue in Hyderabad.
Dalai Lama   596,267   The 14th Dalai Lama courted controversy as he asked a boy to suck his tongue earlier this week, landing him on the list.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev   529,814   As mentioned in #7, the youngest of the two brothers responsible for the Boston marathon bombing who is currently in the death row, having lost an appeal to avoid execution last year.
John Wick: Chapter 4   504,419   Given where the quote from #1 is from, a reminder that The One is currently killing lots of people all around the world in this movie. (and the guy who spoke that is also present)
Brooks Koepka   498,578   The current big name of American golf lost the Masters to #2.
Taylor Swift   474,361   Ms. Swift recorded three albums during the pandemic, and is now hitting the road to perform them in the The Eras Tour (whose tickets were easily selling out even if the ones responsible were doing a bad job). In the meantime she broke up with actor Joe Alwyn, who helped compose and produce some of those albums and is now certain to inspire her next batch of songs.
Joe Alwyn   422,311
14th Dalai Lama   419,768   Tenzin Gyatso is the one currently known as #11. For a spiritual leader he's quite informal, as this video with John Oliver demonstrates, but asking for a child to kiss him and suck his tongue is too much.
UFC 287   407,327   The latest MMA event, held in Miami and with #8 being the headliner, beating Alex Pereira to keep his belt.
