Streamlined motion to stills

edit

If I have a few seconds of motion picture recording on my computer. How can I convert it to still frames it's composed of ? Like turning each second into 24 (or 16) still .jpg or .bmp pictures that may be extracted from it and kept on hard-disk separately. Android based app will suit better, though Windows will also do. KMPlayer is no good. 210.56.127.197 (talk) 17:23, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FFmpeg is free, and will do that. Here [1] are instructions on how extract a frame every X seconds, Here's [2] a command that will extract each of 24 fps. It can technically be compiled on Android [3], but I honestly wouldn't recommend that unless you've already complied other things on Android. SemanticMantis (talk) 19:33, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Jon Ascton, this [4] is a free GUI/frontend for FFmpeg, it may help you out. I don't know of any other good/free GUI programs that can do what you ask, but they may well exist. Feel free to ask another question on the topic in a few days if Avanti doesn't serve your needs (P.S. it's fine to post on my talk page but I post the answer here so it is with the original question and may help future searchers as well.)
