Was there a first African-American to win the Miss Teen USA title, then later win the Miss USA title?158.222.165.116 (talk) 08:56, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are you asking whether the first black winner of each contest was the same girl/woman? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots09:54, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The first African-American to win Miss Teen USA is Janel Bishop (according to her article), but she didn't win Miss USA. In fact, looking at the notes column of List of Miss Teen USA titleholders, it doesn't appear that any Miss Teen won; Shauna Gambill was first runner-up, but she's a blonde. (edit conflict) The first African-American to win the Miss Teen USA title was Janel Bishop. The first to win the Miss USA title was Carole Gist. Only one woman of any ethnicity has done the double, Brandi Sherwood, and she, to all appearance, is not African-American. --Antiquary (talk) 10:36, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
