Wikipedia:How to rename your sandbox
This help page is a how-to guide. It explains concepts or processes used by the Wikipedia community. It is not one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, and may reflect varying levels of consensus. |
Congratulations! You have just created your first Wikipedia article in your sandbox! But the article probably isn't about sandboxes, so the page title is all wrong! It should be renamed to the name of the person or thing it's about. But perhaps you're unable to. New users can't move pages at all.
There are several ways to get your sandbox renamed:
- Ask for help in the teahouse. If your sandbox contains your first article, it may require some additional polish before it can be added to the rest of Wikipedia's articles.
- If you are sure your article is up to snuff (did you read Help:Your first article?), you can submit your article for review through AfC.
- If you just want your sandbox to be renamed but remain in your user space (e.g. "User:Your Name/Article Title") or have it moved to the draft namespace (e.g. "Draft:Article Title"), you can put {{subst:Requested move|Draft:Article Title}} on the talk page associated with your sandbox. If that page doesn't exist yet simply create it.
