editHow to edit source against dead links?
editHello, I replace the dead links through edit the relevant source but after a while, I received a message "Hello, I'm Accesscrawl. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Construction site safety have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox." Please let me know the solution if any possibility to replace dead links
Thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Usmanshani12 (talk • contribs) 05:37, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, Usmanshani12. Thank you for wanting to help improve Wikipedia. You'd have to ask Accesscrawl to be sure why they thought your edits were unconstructive; but I can see a couple of possible reasons. First, you inserted a link to a commercial site, which is not usually acceptable, especially for a reference; and secondly, the text which the citation was supporting was "Several states have implemented campaigns addressing construction zone dangers and encouraging motorists to use caution when driving through work zones", and it doesn't seem to me that the source you gave directly supports that. Thirdly, in your third edit you replaced the second reference, which did work, by another citation to the same site as your previous edit.
- In this case, since there is another citation anyway, the best approach might have been simply to remove the reference. But see WP:LINKROT on how to handle dead links in general. --ColinFine (talk) 11:28, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Control character on Limalok
editGreetings, has someone an idea how to get rid of the "control character" error on Limalok? Thanks in advance. JoJo Eumerus mobile (talk) 09:57, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- I see you have now fixed the problem with this[1] edit.--Shantavira|feed me 11:40, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Maps and coordinates
editThis IP editor ([2]) was right. That was pointing to the QEII hospital, not Watford General. Can someone fix the coordinates and the maps? I don't have the tech skills. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 11:14, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- Done. Deor (talk) 18:29, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Pending change reviewer
editIs there a way to display a list of all the pending changes that a particular PC reviewer has reviewed? --Guy Macon (talk) 17:55, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Guy Macon: Is the review log what you want? To list the reviews for a particular PCR, fill in the "Performer" field with the username of the PCR. If you only want to see manual accepts and not automatic ones, you can set that as well in the "Type of review" field.--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 17:57, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
How to Recover a Deleted Article
editI've just noticed that the Wikipedia page for American Nickelodeon actor, Tadhg Kelly, has been removed. Why would this happen? The page still exists on the German language Wiki in a much-truncated form at: https://de.wiki.x.io/wiki/Tadhg_Kelly
Please let me know how this page can be reinstated immediately, and if you would please tell me for what reason it was removed in the first place, so that I may be sure to prevent that from happening again.
With all my best,
Brandon Kelly — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandonbrandkelly (talk • contribs) 19:30, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- This was deleted in March 2017 as a biography of a living person with no reliable sources. Your best course would be to write a new article through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation system but you will need to provide high quality references. Rmhermen (talk) 19:42, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Creating articles
editHello, Can you tell me why someone just deleted my article about company I'm working for? Kindest regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.67.227 (talk) 19:35, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- Without a name of the article or the name or IP address you used we will have trouble helping you. At least 4 articles about businesses have been deleted in the last hour alone. You could check our policies: for example, Wikipedia:Your first article#Things to avoid and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Rmhermen (talk) 19:47, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Moving from sandbox
editCan somebody move my article "Zenon Martyniuk" from sandbox to main Wiki? I dont know why I cant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DiPGames (talk • contribs) 19:48, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Moving from sandbox
editCan sb move my article Branica (Suszec, Poland) to main wiki? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DiPGames (talk • contribs) 20:03, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- The text needs a copyedit first. Next, I am not sure that a single blog is sufficient to prove the notability. Ruslik_Zero 20:34, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @DiPGames: We could but that's probably not the best idea at this point. Articles are supposed to be based on high-quality professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources. User:DiPGames/Branica (Suszec, Poland) appears to be a machine translation of a blog post, which could qualify as a copyright violation. I see that the first source for the article in your sandbox is Wikipedia -- Wikipedia is almost never accepted as a source on Wikipedia because we are user generated and citing ourselves is no better than citing nothing. Article Doubt
editHello,
I work for a Brazilian company called EBANX and I'm interested in having an article about us in the Wikipedia.
I'm not sure how I should proceed to write this article and if I can personally write it, since I work for the company.
Can you help me with that, please?
Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gabi ebanx (talk • contribs) 20:42, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Gabi ebanx: First, you need to disclose your employment on your user page and review our policies on paid editing and editing with a conflict of interest. I'll be leaving a note about that on your talk page.
- Second, you need to understand that Wikipedia is not a directory where subjects are entitled to articles. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. All we do here is cite, summarize, and paraphrase professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources. Article subjects do not own the articles about them, the Wikipedia community does. We do not tolerate advertising.
- If you still plan to try to write an article about the company, here are the steps you should follow:
- 1) Make sure the topic's notability is attested by discussions of it in several reliable independent sources.
- 2) Gather as many professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources you can find. Google Books is a good resource for this. Also, while search engine resutls are tnot sources, they are where you can find sources. Just remember that they need to be professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources.
- 3) Focus on just the ones that are not dependent upon or affiliated with the subject, but still specifically about the subject and providing in-depth coverage (not passing mentions). If you do not have at least three such sources, the subject is not yet notable and trying to write an article at this point will only fail.
- 4) Summarize those sources left after step 3, adding citations at the end of them. You'll want to do this in a program with little/no formatting, like Microsoft Notepad or Notepad++, and not in something like Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer. Make sure this summary is just bare statement of facts, phrased in a way that even someone who hates the subject can agree with.
- 5) Combine overlapping summaries (without arriving at new statements that no individual source supports) where possible, repeating citations as needed.
- 6) Paraphrase the whole thing just to be extra sure you've avoided any copyright violations or plagiarism.
- 7) Use the Article wizard to post this draft and wait for approval.
- 8a) If the article is accepted, do not edit it anymore. Instead, make edit requests on the article's talk page.
- 8b) If the article is rejected, pay close attention to the reason given for its rejection. Read any blue links you see in the reason given.
- Doing something besides those steps typically results in the article not being approved, or even in its deletion. Repeatedly refusing to cooperate with those steps could result in being blocked. Ian.thomson (talk) 20:50, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
Can some body update the Wiki on Mimi Belete Gebregeiorges.
editShe won the women's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2:22:28 which is a PB and a new course record. See http://canadarunningseries.com/2018/10/mimi-belete-breaks-scotiabank-toronto-waterfront-marathon-record/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:8C5F:F1A0:B981:409B:B19E:54F (talk) 21:06, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- You're usually better off posting a request on the article's talk page. This page would get too busy if all the requests were posted here. Nonetheless, I'll take a look in a bit. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Done info added to Mimi Belete article. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 01:18, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
