Article creation question

edit

Hello, there is a page named K3(band) and if you search for one of the members it comes to the same page. And there isn't any info of the person and i was thinking about making a page but Wikipedia said there's already an page with the name Hanne Verbuggen(one of the members) so is there anything you can do to remove this so you can make a new page????--DionNyo456 (talk) 01:24, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @DionNyo456:, the article went through a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hanne Verbruggen. As editors couldn't find enough sources to meet WP:GNG and WP:MUSICBIO for notability, the article was deleted. If you believe, you can find enough sources (reliable Dutch sources are OK as well) to establish "notability" in Wikipedia's sense of the term, you could try to create a new article version - maybe better as a draft first. But please start off with reading through the linked deletion discussion and the relevant guidelines to make sure, that a new version could meet Wikipedia's guidelines. I have posted some additional information links on your user talkpage. GermanJoe (talk) 02:48, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pagemove problem

edit

We're having a rename discussion on Position of the Catholic Church on Freemasonry (which used to be Papal ban of Freemasonry until about 4 pagemoves ago) and an NPOV option is to move it back to Catholicism and Freemasonry (where it originally came from), but we can't just move it because of the edit history. It also looks like there's been some pagemove issues in the past with Catholicism and Freemasonry (here?) and also with some of the redirects such that it appears to need a multi-article history merge, but I'm not sure I can tell what needs to go where to even ask somebody to do it. In short, irrespective of the current discussion, there seems to be a problem needing attention. MSJapan (talk) 03:44, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If the renaming has been agreed on, and you just can't do the move because of an old redirect, you should make a non-controversial technical move request at Requested moves for admin assistance in moving over the redirect. If the problem is more complicated, we can try to answer with more information. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:57, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

is it wikimedia

edit

I saw this site - https://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Mokushiroku_Arisu is it owned by the wikimedia foundation cuz it looks ditto same to wikipedia! --VarunFEB2003 TalkContribsGuestbook 06:46, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, see https://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Baka-Tsuki:About , but it (along with various other wikis) uses MediaWiki software. --David Biddulph (talk) 06:55, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There are many many sites that use MediaWiki, the same software that Wikipedia does, to run their sites. And because it has a few templates built in, many of the sites end up looking very similar. See Category:MediaWiki websites for a partial listing. Dismas|(talk) 13:18, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Email address not working

edit

Hi, Wikipedians. I recently changed my email address but now I'm not receiving any emails from Wikipedia that I used to get, such as talk page messages, being mentioned etc. I also tried to send an email using the "email this user" feature but the editor said that he didn't get the email. I switched from Gmail to Outlook. Is Outlook supported? The only email I received was from Wikipedia telling me to confirm my new address but after that I haven't received any others. What could be wrong? Thanks for your time. MediaKill13 (talk) 17:19, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I use Outlook and I can both send and receive email via the Wikipedia email feature. That isn't the problem. Maybe the confirmation didn't work. Why don't you try again? Robert McClenon (talk) 17:54, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Robert McClenon: I've received your email, but User:Drmies said that he sent me emails yesterday but I didn't get them. How did you do it? MediaKill13 (talk) 18:25, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I used the Email This User feature. I didn't do anything special. Maybe it wasn't working yesterday and is working today. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:31, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've sent you one. Please tell me if you get it as well. Thanks so much for all your help! MediaKill13 (talk) 18:40, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Message received, but I sent you a paradoxical reply. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:42, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Go to your spam folder. The emails would be there. Please identify Wikipedia emails as not spam. And live life in peace and happiness thereafter. Xender Lourdes (talk) 03:04, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

wmflabs Pageviews Analysis broken?

While many Pageviews Analysis pages on Wikipedia work just fine, for example:

Who should this be reported to? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 19:05, 22 June 2016 (UTC)please ping me[reply]

It might just be the "20 day" graph that's broken, or at least that the one that seems to show up empty for me. There's a "report an issue" link at the bottom of the pageview analysis output page. It appears to work, I'd try there first. Rwessel (talk) 02:38, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for responding, user:Rwessel . I checked the graphs and indeed there is a link to Report an issue, but it leads to a website outside Wikipedia called GitHub where one must register in order to report a problem. Is this website controlled by Wikimedia? Ottawahitech (talk) 13:28, 23 June 2016 (UTC)please ping me[reply]
GitHub is where the developers of the Pageviews stuff appear to be hosting their code, along with the developers of many thousands of other open source (and not-so-open-source) projects (I think the total count of projects is well over a million these days). GitHub is not associated with Wikipedia in any way that I'm aware of. In addition to being a source code repository, GitHub provides issue tracking, and a variety of other tools for managing a software project. Not a website you should have any concerns about using. Rwessel (talk) 14:37, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Ottawahitech: Please confirm the tool is working as expected now. There was a recent major update to the tool, where we introduced the option for a logarithmic scale. This broke the chart for some pages, but as of June 23 it should be working. Sorry about sending you to GitHub. I think we will create a feedback page that's on-wiki; that seems more appropriate given the majority of our users are Wikimedians MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 15:56, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, the cases that seemed to be not working for me, appear fixed now. Rwessel (talk) 17:24, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • @MusikAnimal (WMF): thanks for pinging me. Of my original list above most seem tobe working with the exception of:
Ottawahitech (talk) 01:16, 27 June 2016 (UTC)please ping me[reply]
@Ottawahitech: There was one other report of someone still experiencing this issue, and they were using IE 11 on Windows 10. What browser and operating system are you using? Could you try those links in a different browser?
See also meta:Talk:Pageviews Analysis, the new home for discussion and filing reports. Thanks for that recommendation! MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 01:29, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Negative material added to article

edit

I made edits to the article "SDI Presence", just to find a number of other edits made, some of which are false allegations. How do I go about cleaning this up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcluca22 (talkcontribs) 21:06, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This may be related to this previous thread. Eagleash (talk) 21:30, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since you have a conflict of interest, you should not edit the article (and you have not been), but should do what you have been doing, which is making edit requests on the talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:20, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
