- Is there any way this could be re-scanned? That's the problem: the scan resolution interfered with the printing, causing the moire pattern. It can be difficult to remove this digitally, and the results usually aren't that great. MjolnirPants Tell me all about it. 13:33, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Done I could not find any note describing what you wanted on the photo page, or on the linked article talk page, so I removed distracting background and foreground elements, and cropped the photo down some. Hope this works. Carl Henderson (talk) 06:26, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! I used the image-note feature. For a random example, go to File:" 12 - ITALY - Alfa Romeo Mito Coupé.JPG and hover your mouse over the image: you'll see a little box surrounding the car, and if you put your mouse into the box, you get a short message. This is the kind of note that I left. Nyttend (talk) 11:59, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks very much, that's a very noticeable improvement in picture quality.Anythingyouwant (talk) 19:28, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
I hate to say this Centpacrr, mainly because you never listen to a word of criticism, but the reason I re-did the edit was because of your edit being so sloppy. As usual when you do your "agma" edits, you've also taken a few liberties with regards to sloppy masking that you neglected to mention in your edit summary (see the subject's collar, shoulders and hair, and now the halo) and the flattening effect that the adjustment has had on the subject's face (the most important part of the image). Also, what makes you think that my edit was too dark? I thought you prefer to let the requestor be the ultimate arbiter? My guess is that you're just butt-hurt about having your amateurish efforts reverted, even if I had tried to be discrete about it. It's evident from my previous interactions with you that you have very little understanding of curves adjustments, masking or non-destructive editing in general, but you carry on, pal. Because this isn't happening in article space and there aren't that many graphics experts willing to pull you up on your petty edit warring you'll probably get away with it, and who cares about the loss of quality of an image anyway? You have a great day. Good job! nagualdesign 10:54, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

I spent some time working on that photo and I don't think that there is much that can be done to improve it unless there is an artist on Graphics Workshop that has the time and skill to essentially repaint it based on that photo. However, I did locate a much better photo (though smaller) of Sallie Partington that might be a good substitute. Carl Henderson (talk) 23:38, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

@Carnby: A blurry picture is not really something that can be fixed. Your best option is to take another picture next chance you have or try to find alternative media someone else shot that has the proper license so that you can use it. You may want to check out the Arundo donax category on commons and see if any of those pictures will work for your needs. Offnfopt(talk) 00:52, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

- Hi @MarshalN20, the histogram of your image shows two things:
- The colors are not evenly distributed; this points to a color cast (in this case: blue).
- The histogram curves reach the maximum or minimum values on the X axis and have yet a high intensity; this indicates overdriving channels.
- With other words, the saturation is too high.
- I do not know if the colors are correct in my attempt, but I have as far as possible eliminate these problems, as you see in the 2nd histogram.
- Regards, MagentaGreen (talk) 09:20, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
