Am looking at this and trying to convert to SVG for future use. Be aware that this seems to be an old district map (Uganda seems to like carving out new districts).

Blank maps of Burmese townships divisions by state

edit

Article(s): current landslide

Request: I want a map, preferably an svg map which is a blank map of Burma showing township dividers like the Sierra Leone one above using this as a basis. If somebody can create a blank map for me like the Sierra Leone one I'll be able to create township locator maps for all of them and gradually improve the quality of each article. I've already asked on German wiki about this and it seems that a singular map of Burma showing townships would be too small scale. So I'm requesting that you can make 14 svg type maps of each state of Burma showing the township outlines using this as a basis to make them. That way I can make deriratives and shade in the desired township of whatever state myself and uploading them to the commons. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 17:24, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Svg map of Assam showing rivers with anotations

edit

Article(s): current landslide

Request: I want an svg map of the Indian state of Assam like the Tibet one showing the major rivers but with anotations. I especially require that the Manas River located between Bhutan and Assam is labelled on it as I am currently writing it in a sandbox. The Brahmaputra of course is the main river but I need a decent svg showing the major rivers of Assam. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 17:13, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

I don't have time right now, but, a good starting point for someone might be File:India disputed areas map.svg since it includes the rivers and the legend etc should be easy to remove. --Erp (talk) 02:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

This tool will best do this for you. You will have to reenter the data but the result will be better than fiddling with colours after the fact. It only outputs as PNG (better) or JPEG, not SVG but the output size is print quality for most purposes on Wikipedia. -- RA (talk) 19:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

article English Neighborhood

Request: The above map is useful but to covers too large an area for the English Neighborhood article. I sit possible to clip to include the the penisula between the Hackensack and Hudson Rivers? ie south- north axis to included entire text showing location? Djflem (talk) 14:44, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): That map shouldn't even by on here due to copyright, the uploader cropped out the 1976 copyright date from the original [1]. Kmusser (talk) 13:41, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article(s): Limfjord

Request: The political boundary looks too far North on this map of Denmark. If I'm not mistaken it actually shows the border between Denmark and Prussia/Germany 1868-1918 rather than the present day one and so is misleading to the viewer. It's based on an original by User:Valentinian who's left Wikipedia, so other Danish maps may have the same error. Paul S (talk) 11:33, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): Denmark is the entire map, the boundaries shown on there are Denmark's internal boundaries, see Regions_of_Denmark. Kmusser (talk) 13:13, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Can the current image be altered to more resemble the map on the second page of this article: ftp://ftp-fc.sc.egov.usda.gov/WHMI/WEB/pdf/TechnicalLeaflets/bog_turtle_Oct%2023.pdf ?--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 19:49, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

possibly a stupid question, but can we not just rip & copy the map from the "leaflet" as pd-usa gov? Lx 121 (talk) 22:03, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's been some talk of this, unsure of copyright regulations...any ideas?--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 02:30, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
if the map was created by the US federal gov't (any dep't/branch) it's pd-usgov by default (have to lookup the tag). all we need to do is establish a reasonable certainty about that, & we're good to go. Lx 121 (talk) 04:17, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The tag is PD-US--Profitoftruth85 (talk) 13:39, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, that won't be necessary, if you click on the image you will see that someone took the time to help me out ;-)--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 13:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Need a map made from the rangemap (on the left). The map is originally from Higgins, Peter Jeffrey; Peter, John M.; Cowling SJ (eds.) (2006). Handbook of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds. Vol. 7: Boatbill to Starlings. Melbourne: Oxford University Press. p. 567. ISBN 978-0195539967. {{cite book}}: |author= has generic name (help)CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link). I am not hugely fussed if we just have one range colour (red might be a bit bright, so maybe green or something) as we've not used common/rare distinctions elsewhere in bird articles. Graphist opinion(s): Since that is claiming to be the CIA World Factbook map of Greece, I'd recommend taking the real CIA World Factbook map of Greece and uploading over it - that can be found at [2]. Kmusser (talk) 12:24, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
