Original – One Deutsche Mark (1948), post WWII Soviet occupied German Democratic Republic (East Germany). An emergency issue in circulation less than six weeks (early June to late July, 1948), Rentenmark notes from 1937 were validated as legal currency with the application of a blue stamp. (Yellow tinting on the right face is a security feature.
Reason
High quality image, high EV. Paired with the following note, these two 1948 Deutsche Mark notes represent the first issue of paper currency circulated in the German Democratic Republic and Federal Republic of Germany (formerly East and West Germany, respectively).
