Nominator(s): Santi (talk) 22:37, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Classy 101" is a song by Colombian singer Feid and Puerto Rican singer Young Miko (who gained fame after attracting attention by important Latin artists and being viral through TikTok with tho themes: "Riri" and "Lisa". After the success of "Yandel 150" (which has no connection with the song; that's why it doesn't appear in the article), the song became popular in Latin America and entered at the Billboard Hot 100, being the Miko's first entry on the chart. She reacted to it surprised a bit later. The song was created initially by her, but she met suprisely Feid in Los Angeles, having not contact with him before and being his fan for a long time, according to an interview. I nominate this (I'm insanely nervious right now) because I think it meets these FAC criterias: 1a and 1b (because I based it mainly on "Blank Space", current FA, in the realm of prose); 1c (because I have researched as much as possible and I didn't find anything else, so it could be complete now); 1d (for GAN passed; FA criteria shares the same); 1e (for what was said in the criterion 1e); 1f (Earwig gives good signals); 2a, 2b and 2c (for the same mentioned in 1e and 1f, and because I'm a little annoying with references structure, and PSA is a witness to that); 3 (Obviously it has multimedia content, and I think it's enough) and 4 (for 1e and 1f). I'm open to any comments, because it most likely has too many problems, but at least I'm trying. Santi (talk) 22:37, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies in advance as I am not sure if I will be able to commit to a full review, but I do have comments for the lead and infobox:

  • This sentence from the lead needs additional work: (After attracting the attention of several artists by sharing the stage, collaborating with them, and going viral on TikTok, Miko initially composed the song in Los Angeles until she surprisingly met Villada there.) It is quite wordy and raises unanswered questions for the reader (specifically Why was Miko's meeting with Villada a surprise? and What is meant by "Miko initially composed the song"?). It is just a lot of information to unpack.
Partly done. At least I answered that main questions. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am uncertain if putting Feid's name in parenthesis after Salomón Villada is the best way to distinguish between his real name and his stage name.
  • Done, but see below. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I do not believe that this part, (Villada's first single of 2023), is relevant for the lead. I do not think knowing that this past song was his first single of the year is particularly useful to highlight in the lead or even in the article.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • For this part, (he released the song as a single on March 31 through Universal Music Latino), it was really the record company that released the song as a single not the artist themselves.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I do not think the specific location and event for the music video premiere (i.e. at Ferxxo Nitro Jam Tour show in Lima, Peru) is necessary to highlight in the lead.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why is Mor, No Le Temas a la Oscuridad mentioned in the lead if this is a single for a completely different project?
    Removed. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am uncertain about the use of "edgy perreo fusion" in the lead. I would generally avoid quotes in the lead, but that could just be a matter of personal preference. It is unclear who is saying this quote, and it is also attached to this part, (has been described as a reggaeton with a minimalist sound), where it is unclear who is describing the song in this manner.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I could not find the following sentence from the lead supported in the article: (Music journalists praised the song for its vocals and overall sound.) I looked in the "Composition and reception" section, but this kind of overview or summary of reviews is not presented or cited unless I am missing it.
Not done. See below. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • The music video premiere is mentioned twice in the lead.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would avoid this wording, "singing along the song", as the repetition of singing / song does not make for the most engaging prose.
    Done. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • The infobox includes sandungueo as a genre, but it is not mentioned or cited anywhere else in the article.
Not done. See below. Santi (talk) 04:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I oppose based on the prose. Although I have only looked through the lead and the infobox, I have noticed issues with the prose and other points. I think a peer review would be the better place to improve the article prior to a FAC. Apologies for opposing so early into the FAC. You can of course keep the FAC active to get other opinions. Aoba47 (talk) 01:01, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aoba47: Sorry for the mistakes, I reported this because it was what I feared the most. I immediately followed the advices, but I have a few comments to make:
  1. I removed Feid's real name and replaced "Villada" with his stage name. I think that with the changes made you will know why I wanted to make the clarification.
  2. I think the Billboard and Los Angeles Times reviews can give some insight into the interpretation (I changed "overall" to "chorus" to be more consistent).
  3. As you can see in the article about sandungueo, it is also known as perreo. I think the intention of the review was to mention the genre, and not just a song that incites that dance.
  4. With the changes made, I feel it was too short. I'm sure more information needs to be added.
Anyway, thanks for reviewing, and I'm sorry for these inconveniences that, as you say, could have been addressed in a peer review, but I'm not clear on the instructions for a PR for FA, because I remember that it exists. Santi (talk) 01:49, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's great that you have taken the leap and nominated for FAC, but I would have to oppose as well per WP:FACR 1 as the prose is currently not "engaging and of a professional standard". For example, "After attracting the attention of several artists by sharing the stage, collaborating with them, and going viral on TikTok, Miko initially composed the song in Los Angeles until she surprisingly met Feid there, having no contact with him before and being always his fan." I might recommend withdrawing and taking to WP:GOCE. It is great that you have modelled it off "Blank Space" but I would also try to read the past year of successful music FACs to get more ideas available here. Heartfox (talk) 04:33, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Heartfox: Thanks for the advice. Far from being frustrated and desperate about this, I am more than happy for the responses. Several FACs, even better than this one, start with oppositions. I know that's going to change here. Cheers! Santi (talk) 01:44, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please remove the graphics above (i.e. done, not done, partially done) as they are not allowed in the FAC process. Aoba47 (talk) 15:34, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Aoba47: Oki doki. Santi (talk) 16:20, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

edit

This nom looks underprepared for FAC so I'm going to archive it and recommend PR and/or working with a FAC mentor on improvements. You're welcome to renominate here after that, providing also that a minimum of 2 weeks has passed. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 07:34, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
