History
editThe station first signed on the air on September 15, 1949 .[5] In 1981, current owner Hall Communications bought WONN, along with FM sister station 97.5 WPCV in Winter Haven, for $2 million.
On August 5, 2024, WONN changed its format to sports radio from "America's Best Music" - soft oldies and adult standards. It uses programming from Fox Sports Radio and calls itself "Fox Sports Radio Lakeland." It is now the only sports talk station in the Lakeland-Winter Haven radio market.[6]
