Change to page format

Reference on Bristol

Hi, Thanks for your edits to Bristol. I have added some wikilinks. I see you have added a reference using the "cite web" template - which gives the impression this is from a web site but you have not included the URL for the page concerned. I have searched on the anti-slavery website but can't find the page concerned. If it is a website could you give the URL for the page - if it is a book or other source a different citation template should be used. Some of the detail you have added may be more appropriate on Bristol slave trade as the main Bristol article only provides a summary.— Rod ^talk 17:31, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

If you have a look at Template:Cite web it has a parameter |url= this should be added with the http://... address of the relevant page; however having looked at the url you gave it appears you have directly copied the text, related to the Merchant Ventruers, which is a Copyright violation therefore I will need to remove it. You need to reword the text so that we do not break copyright law. I would suggest all the stuff about banks etc which is not directly related to Bristol shouldn't be on that page.— Rod ^talk 20:30, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
• Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. I am about to block you

You are continuing to add copyright violations. If you continue, and if you don't immediately revert the others, I will have to block you to enforce our policy on copyright.
