Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Expert opinion

edit

Hi Zingbit, welcome to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you have added information on expert opinion to some articles. Please note that Wikipedia does not include information from this type of source. For more information on what sources to use, please see WP:RS and WP:MEDRS. Wikipedia can have a bit of a learning curve, but I hope you stick with it.--Taylornate (talk) 21:27, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your advice on this subject Taylornate. I'm following up on an area of personal interest but presumed I was following the proper reference protocol by ensuring that every statement was fully supported - as I would do for a post-graduate paper. Trying to ensure that what I'm adding is suitable for the generalist/mainstream reader rather than assuming specialist (ie medical) knowledge so it's good of you to keep me right. Much appreciated.

After looking at some of your other edits, I am wondering if you may have some connection with Jan Stanek. In order to keep Wikipedia neutral, it has a policy on conflict of interest. I would encourage you to read this policy and consider your motivation for making some of your edits. People often come to Wikipedia to promote their own interests. Usually this is not a willful disregard for the rules, but a misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is about. Aside from this type of editing being against the rules, an unintended consequence can be unwanted scrutiny, sometimes resulting in unflattering information being added about the topic.--Taylornate (talk) 23:09, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your use of multiple Wikipedia accounts

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Zingbit22, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Opting in to VisualEditor

edit

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
