Orphaned non-free image (Image:GirlsAloud.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:GirlsAloud.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:50, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

ITunes Originals - New Order

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of ITunes Originals - New Order, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.discogs.com/release/1085736. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Regarding your addition of review ratings to various articles: please keep in mind that the stars template should only be used for publications that actually use star ratings. Re: Doctor Who continuity (Partners In Crime)

edit

Hi there. I can't speak for how the other Who articles are treated by their regular caretakers, but in removing the information I was attempting to make the article fall more in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Trivia sections and continuity sections (what others might term fancruft), are generally frowned upon in Wikipedia articles. To my mind, in an article about a film or television programme, the text should focus more on the production, reaction, themes and analysis, and should always have real-world context. While articles in the early stages of development may contain information which does not easily fit elsewhere, this material should either be moved to the relevant section or removed entirely as the article matures. The information added to the article was also original research, as it was based upon editor observation and interpretation, rather than any independent secondary sources. This is also considered a no-no. While other Who articles might indeed contain this stuff, the Partners in Crime article is one which has been nominated for featured status, meaning it should reflect the best that Wikipedia has to offer. Stricter standards must therefore apply. I hope this explanation has been of some use to you, and I hope there are no hard feelings. All the best, Steve TC 08:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, don't take my word for it; I'm nobody :). Feel free to make a compelling case for the inclusion of the information on the article's talk page, with no hard feelings from this end. We can all be civil about this kind of thing and you might even change someone's mind. I'll only add that, where it has been accepted that the continuity sections are perfectly OK, they must still be cited to secondary sources. See Voyage of the Damned (Doctor_Who)#Continuity for an example where every item in the list has an appropriate citation. All the best, Steve TC 08:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, yeah I never thought on that. I can't say why I added it with an exclamation mark in the first place, since the source I got it from was the Official Charts and they did not have any punctuation mark for it. 216.221.108.75 (talk) 00:15, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:SexyNoNoNo.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:SexyNoNoNo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 21:23, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
