This Special Barnstar is awarded to Philafrenzy and Whispyhistory because you guys write the best hooks! It's almost impossible not to automatically promote them to the top slot (if they have an image) or the quirky slot (if they don't), but I do have to appear impartial. Jute
Hi Whispyhistory,
I've just been reading Jainti Dass Saggar, and was surprised to read about "imports of cheap jute from India that were undercutting the profits of manufacturers in Glasgow". I'm pretty sure you can't grow jute in the climate of Scotland. I would expect the availabilty of cheap imports from India to benefit manufacturers in Glasgow. Can you explain? Maproom (talk) 21:51, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- That was me. It refers to the import of finished jute products from India that threatened the Scottish jute weaving industry. See the ref. I added "products" to Saggar. There is more on the "Dundee Jute Barons" at Jute trade. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:10, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Whispyhistory, do you plan to return to your review here, now that the sourcing issue is said to have been addressed, or should I find another reviewer to check things? Please let me know if the latter. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:54, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset:. Thanks and sure. It was actually a very good article but the hook needed in line citation in article. I'll check. Whispyhistory (talk) 19:04, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: I checked and the hook is in article but not directly followed by inline citation. If this causes complications then maybe another reviewer can check. Whispyhistory (talk) 04:18, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Whispyhistory, thanks for checking. I took the liberty of adding an extra citation after the sentence in question, since it was clear from the nominator's comment that the citation covered the entire contents of the paragraph. (I also made some adjustments to hyphens that should have been dashes.) You should be all set. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:10, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

DYK nomination
I was minded to promote the DYK Arthur Rook to the lead slot with its image of a keratoacanthoma, but the latter article has a "citations needed" tag. Are you able to find some references and remove this tag in case it causes trouble when your hook is in prep or on the main page? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:52, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks @Cwmhiraeth:...I'll look at it and see what I can do. Can we delay until I get back to you? Whispyhistory (talk) 06:09, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Sure, as with everything else at DYK, no rush!. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:22, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: keratoacanthoma untagged. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:07, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for a very thorough tag removal! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:24, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Possible DYKs
Arthur Francis Hamilton and Avis Crocombe are both possibles. Crocombe has an obvious hook on the dead man's leg but I see little interesting for Hamilton. Can you find anything? Philafrenzy (talk) 08:42, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Philafrenzy:....I will do a bit, sure. I don't think "mu" means potato in Arthur Francis Hamilton. Can I check with @Nizil Shah:. I'll have to look to see what medical contributions Hamilton had. Whispyhistory (talk) 13:47, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- Well, the reference says he was know as 'Mu' but 'Mu' does not mean Potato in Hindi. The correct Hindi word for potato is 'Alu' (also spelled 'Aloo'). I think: The person who typed it from written text had mistakenly read /\lu as Mu. :) Regards,-Nizil (talk) 14:11, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- So you think he was known as Alu (potato)? Philafrenzy (talk) 17:37, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- Can you find another source? I looked but no success. Calling him an "aloo" is quite different and we should find the correct version. Thank you @Nizil Shah:.Whispyhistory (talk) 20:40, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- If it can't be resolved satisfactorily I will just delete that bit. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:47, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

- I tried to find another source...but failed. The source with "Mu" says it is sourced in BMJ 1965, but I can't find it. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:17, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- You can have that paper here on JSTOR. You can read it for free if you are logged in. If you do not wish to login/sign up, you can request it via email on WP:RX.-Nizil (talk) 06:36, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy, Mu does not mean potato but Alu does so it is possible to have it as a nickname. We should drop it if we can't find better source. I have posted a JSTOR link above which may resolve the issue. -Nizil (talk) 06:40, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Nizil Shah: Thank you. That's amazing. "Alu" is in his BMJ obituary so I have changed it. He was called Alu because he was sedentary. Great investigation. @Philafrenzy: will appreciate it too. Whispyhistory (talk) 07:28, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding NCBI link. It is more accessible. Further information will help to expand the article as well. Investigating is fun. :) -Nizil (talk) 07:39, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you @Nizil Shah: and @Whispyhistory:. I think the nickname was not just affectionate it was ironic as well as he got a lot done for a man of supposedly sedentary habits. DYK later. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:50, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
