Your use of {{Bots}}

I noticed that you currently have {{Bots|deny=MediaWiki message delivery}}[[Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery]] at the top of this page. I wanted to let you know that, currently, your invocation of the bots template does nothing. However, the template was recently edited to allow users to use it to opt out of mass messaging, using the code {{bots|optout=MassMessage}}. I just thought you might want to know, since that could replace your current use of the template, as well as eliminate the separate need to manually add yourself to the category. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 11:07, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - updated. O Still Small Voice of Clam 11:16, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: it's just occurred to me - you could use MediaWiki message delivery to message everyone in Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery about this new change. Oh, hang on...   O Still Small Voice of Clam 11:21, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Voice of Clam: No, but you could use a bot (eg autowikibrowser) or a user script (something based on User:DannyS712 test/append.js) to let them all know. Should I? --DannyS712 (talk) 11:23, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Try a few random users first and see what response you get. O Still Small Voice of Clam 11:26, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Re:

brunodam makes thousands of edits (today I locked 12 accounts, plus several IPs), mixing up misuses of sources, promotion of his crappy blogs as sources, copyvios on a large scale but, above all, a grotesque ultra-nationalist POV which causes him to add pure hoaxes. Persistent harassment and more than ten years of weird legal threats are nothing compared to a pure disruption which doesn't leave much room for a treasure hunt of the a single non disruptive edit among thousands. --Vituzzu (talk) 21:22, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Can you please tell me where this cites a "600mm railway built by Italians in Mersa Fatuma's port"? I wasn't even able to find the port in the map where railways (and their gauges ofc) aren't recognizable. --Vituzzu (talk) 21:27, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Vituzzu: The ref is a pdf of a large document in Italian, which I don't speak. I don't know if it includes the information or not, but am happy to AGF that it does. Incidentally the IP that added the ref has not been blocked, nor as far as I can see have they been linked to any blocked or banned account. O Still Small Voice of Clam 22:26, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
AGF with a LTA? Obviously there's no point in blocking a dynamic IP used six months ago, hence I didn't. Honestly I cannot understand all this AGF towards a long-term abuser opposed to the ABF towards a steward. I don't expect to be unconditionally trusted but, at least, you may spend some seconds in considering I'm both an Italian native speaker and able to checkuser on hundreds wikis, so there may be a reason in reverting twice the addition of a ref by a sock. --Vituzzu (talk) 22:44, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
List of railway stations in Eritrea has been on my watchlist for a long time. When I first saw the edit in question in August last year, I wasn't sure whether it was correct or not, but as I had no evidence otherwise, assumed good faith. I still see no evidence whatsoever that 65.15.45.249 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) has any connections with a banned user - they have only made two edits, one of which is linked above, and the other is this - an unexplained removal of a talk page comment. Probably not a good edit (I haven't investigated the context), but no reason to link them to anything else. Hence no reason to remotely suspect LTA, and therefore my assumption of good faith was justified, and still is unless you can demonstrate otherwise. O Still Small Voice of Clam 22:59, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
I've been telling you this as a checkuser. Anyway here below you got your confirm. --Vituzzu (talk) 15:46, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Vituzzu: - please try and see things from my point of view. Until you mentioned it in your posts above, I had no idea that you were a steward or checkuser. Indeed, for some reason your user rights page shows the boxes unchecked (perhaps this doesn't taken into account global permissions, I don't know). So when a user I hadn't heard of reverts a good edit by removing a photo I became suspicious. I looked at your contributions and saw that you were reverting many such edits in quick succession, without explanation. In my opinion the photo enhanced the article, so after careful consideration, I restored it (no other useful photo being available). Later on you reverted another edit on the same article by removing a ref as described above. I checked your talk page and saw that another editor had already queried your reverting, so I left the polite warning on your talk page as an administrator. This was not in any way intended as ABF, and I apologise if it came across that way. Bear in mind that I was still not aware that you were a steward or checkuser. I only became aware that you were a checkuser in your final comment above. Do you see where I'm coming from? O Still Small Voice of Clam 18:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

FYI, Voice of Clam. In the last years I have written more than 130000 posts in Wikipedia and I have never created damage to this nice encyclopedia. Years ago I was blocked forever by an Italian admin only because I "hinted" to the need to get help from an attorney, because offended by the false accusations of using 3 different accounts together. That's all my crime....and there it is no possibility of "redemption" in the Italian Wikipedia, that is ruled by admins like Vituzzu (who is receiving many critics: please read http://www.wikivelieroorg/ in Italian or http://manmer2.blogspotcom/ in English - he has blocked both websites, but you can read them if you put a point before "org" in the first and "com" in the second). This Vituzzu never, never, never allows me to defend what I write: he -abusing the power of his stewardship- is always erasing some of my posts (like he did yesterday, erasing one fourth of what I wrote in the last 5 months) and offends me writing that I use & do "crappy blogs as sources, copyvios on a large scale but, above all, a grotesque ultra-nationalist POV which causes him to add pure hoaxes. Persistent harassment and more than ten years of weird legal threats". Of course he never allows me to remember him that all these accusations are lies and that I am ready to demonstrate it! I am a graduate "summa cum laude" from an Italian university (that has published some of my researches & essays) and I have a MBA from a USA university: he is the ONLY person who attacks continuously me and what I write. Finally, the map has clearly indicated the potassium railway, but -OF COURSE- he cannot enlarge the map in order to see Mersa Fatuma…………………..Sincerely, BD — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.108.239.96 (talk) 02:53, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

PS: I am adding an enlarged map that I have created of the railway (that -OF COURSE- Vituzzu "wasn't even able to find the port in the map"): File:Mersa-fatuma-map.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.108.239.96 (talk) 03:06, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Dave1185: Keep clam... I like that idea; I may have to use it (watch this space). Incidentally, I hope you don't mind but I've changed the header of this section. I've no intention of hiding my previous usernames, but there is a reason why I don't use them on Wiki projects any more (nothing to do with recent events).
