Help?
editFirst off: sorry if someone finds this to be abusive use of the helpme template, I promise not to do so again. And I have looked for answers by myself unsuccessfully before doing so.
I have two questions:
- I've seen some interesting signatures on the talk pages, real colorful, with different links and even small images. How can I get one of those? I can't seem to find anything related to sigs on my preferences page.
- I've been working on a translation of a page from pt:wikipedia to en:wikipedia, but when putting the images they seem to be allocated at a different place. What is the better way of using images from different language wikis?
Thanks in advance, Gaspa
- Wikipedia:Signature#Customizing_your_signature & Wikipedia:How to fix your signature
- The image may be saved to pt Wikipedia, which is unaccessible from en Wikipedia. If the image has a free licence then is may be uploaded to the Wikipedia:Commons so any Wikipedia project (inlcuding pt and en) may use the image.--Commander Keane 20:28, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
User talk:Pain/Userboxes ?
editHi, your Userboxes page has a cute little box saying that if you make any mistakes we should warn you. Well, that very box is linked to User talk:Pain/Userboxes - IMO that's wrong. Not your mistake, but still maybe it should be fixed. VdSV9 21:06, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, indeed you are right. That page worked until the userboxes were in the same page of my main interests. I forgot to modify it as I recently concentrated my attention more on the articles than on my personal space. Thanks for the notice, you interpreted the userbox in its very essence. Changes to electrical engineering
editHi,
I am a little puzzled by your changes to electrical engineering. You reverted all my changes without clearly explaining why.
For the three to five year change, in your explaination for the reverts you wrote "And as for the 3-5 or 4-5 years...".
I also was wondering why you moved the old third paragraph of the lead to the history section as this leads to a repetition of information.
I really just want the best for the electrical engineering article and I could really use some help understanding these changes.
Thanks,
Picture Size
editHi VdSV9,
The picture on my browser is huge - that is it runs into the text of the history section. If you'd like me to e-mail you a picture of it I can do that. But if you'd like to switch to the voltmeter image or stick with the reduced image size I'm happy to do that too. I've never liked an article having two lead images - it's non-standard and clutters the lead - but if it keeps things peaceful I'm happy to stay with it. I'm using a Mac so this could be the reason for the different look but I think you'll find that even on your computer, when viewed at reduced resolutions, the image would run in to the history section's text.
Hope this helps,
De nada! Schoen 19:07, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Marijuana Wiki
editHi there,
I see that you are a pro-Cannabis Wikipedian so I hope this will be of some interest to you.
I've started a Marijuana wiki (aka The Sticky Wiki) which I think you might be interested in. I'm hoping you can help me get started with this project. Whereas lots of articles about weed get speedy-deleted on Wikipedia, they would be totally cool over at MarijuanaWiki. But really I want the site to be more of a marijuana community than merely an encyclopedia.
To give you an example, I want to have city guides about where to score, find pot-friendly cafes, marijuana events, and what represents a good price in that city. Etc. (You can check out the featured article: "Toronto" to see what I mean). Of course, I want to see articles about the negative health effects and the drug laws in each of the countries. I also want to have grow diaries and marijuana blogs. All in all, basically more communal than encyclopedic.
I am in need of admins/moderators, and people experienced with MediaWiki to help build policy, categories, and templates, etc. If you'd be interested in helping me with this project, the URL is MarijuanaWiki
Thanks for your time and consideration. Hope to see you there!
Hello
editGreetings to all of you: Tiago, Thiago, Gasparino, Gaspa, James, Jimmy and VdSV9. Doesn't it ever get a bit claustrophobic with all those identities fighting their way around inside? Or maybe you like group sessions ... he he.
Yes, what category will I fit into when I shuffle off this mortal coil? Good question. Only time will tell, I guess.
Please give Mildred a big kiss from me next time you see her.
Cheers from Jack. JackofOz 23:44, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Active power factor correction
editHi,
I noticed that you revert some of the lastest modifications of Active power factor correction. Could you explain why? CyrilB 07:48, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Copied from my talk page:
- sorry for my crudeness in doing that change, I didn't really have much time left and maybe I should have explained better my position.
- the fact is that yes you can remove harmonic distortion with passive filters, you just have to design pass-band filters that will direct these harmonics to the ground. I have myself taken a course on harmonic correction last year, and if you're interested I can give you more info (and, naturally, give wikipedia more info) on this when I move back to my home city, where I have the book used for these classes. and that will be next week.
- later, -- VdSV9•♫ 10:34, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- OK, this is clearer. So the paragraph you removed should be rephrased to be more definitive in its statements. Passive filters can only be easily designed with a slow cut-off slope, making the suppression of the first harmonics (e.g third and fifth) almost impossible. - CyrilB 11:50, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

AfD nomination of The Matrix character names
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The Matrix character names. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Matrix character names (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:44, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Requesting small help
editI was looking for some small help. I created an article en:Kithaab(French fr:Kithaab/Spanish es:Kithaab/de:Kithaab) -a play about women rights issues- which has been copy edited and is ready for translation in various languages.
Portuguese is one of top 9 most spoken global languages. Out of first 9 languages the article is already got translated in 6 of them, but Portuguese language Wikipedia (and Russian & Chinese too) are remaining to get article Kithaab translated in. Translating in Portuguese will also help translating in other global languages.
Looking for your possible help in translating the article en:Kithaab to your Portuguese language Wikipedia. If you are unable to spare time yourself then may be you like to refer the same to some other translator.
Thanks and Warm Regards

editThe proposed decision in the Skepticism and coordinated editing has been posted. Please review the proposed decision and draw the arbitrators' attention to any relevant material or statements. An arbitration case regarding Skepticism and coordinated editing has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:
- Rp2006 (talk · contribs) is warned against a battleground mentality and further incivility.
- Rp2006 is indefinitely topic banned from edits related to living people associated with or of interest to scientific skepticism, broadly construed. This topic ban may be appealed after six months have elapsed and every six months thereafter.
- A. C. Santacruz (talk · contribs) is reminded to remain collegial in editing and interacting with others.
- Roxy the dog (talk · contribs) is warned to remain collegial in editing and interacting with others.
- GSoW is advised that a presence on English Wikipedia, perhaps as its own WikiProject or as a task force of WikiProject Skepticism, will create more transparency and lessen some of the kinds of suspicion and conflict that preceded this case. It could also provide a place for the GSoW to get community feedback about its training which would increase its effectiveness.
- Editors are reminded that discretionary sanctions for biographies of living people have been authorized since 2014. Editors named in this decision shall be considered aware of these discretionary sanctions under awareness criterion 1.

Rejuvenate WikiProject Skepticism
editHello - my name is Susan Gerbic (Sgerbic) and I'm writing to you because at some point you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism. This might have been months ago - or even years ago. With the best of intentions the project was created years ago, and sadly like many WikiProjects has started to go dormant. A group of us are attempting to revitalize the Skepticism project, already we have begun to clean up the main page and I've just redone the participant page. No one is in charge of this project, it is member directed, which might have been the reason it almost went dormant. We are attempting to bring back conversations on the talk page and have two subprojects as well, in the hopes that it might spark involvement and a way of getting to know each other better. One was created several years ago but is very well organized and a lot of progress was made, Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skeptical organisations in Europe. The other I created a couple weeks ago, it is very simple and has a silly name Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skepticism Stub Sub-Project Project (SSSPP). This sub-project runs from March 1 to June 1, 2022. We are attempting to rewrite skepticism stubs and add them to this list. As you can see we have already made progress.
The reason I'm writing to you now is because we would love to have you come back to the project and become involved, either by working on one of the sub-projects, proposing your own (and managing it), or just hanging out on the talk page getting to know the other editors and maybe donate some of your wisdom to some of the conversations. As I said, no one is in charge, so if you have something in mind you would like to see done, please suggest it on the talk page and hopefully others will agree. Please add the project to your watchlist, update your personal user page showing you are a proud member of WikiProject Skepticism. And DIVE in, this is what the work list looks like [1] frightening at first glance, but we have already started chipping away at it.
The Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Participants page has gone though a giant change - you may want to update your information. And of course if this project no longer interests you, please remove your name from the participant list, we would hate to see you go, but completely understand.
Thank you for your time, I hope to edit with you in the future.Sgerbic (talk) 07:37, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
