Dethalbum
edit- Have you actually seen the back cover of Dethalbum? FallenWings47 15:02, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. You don't have a copy already do you? FallenWings47 16:40, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Wait...does the deluxe edition have "Deththeme" on it? FallenWings47 16:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- That worried me for a sec, so technically it's a hidden track. Lol! FallenWings47 16:56, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
The Information
editWhy did you self-revert here? The track name on the back cover does include the space. --PEJL 00:32, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I see. Agree that the track name on the regular edition should be used. Thanks for explaining. --PEJL 05:30, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair Use and Free Images
editNo problem! I'm glad to help. Alright, first off, free images. Free images are pictures which have been released into the Creative Commons or are over 80-something years of age (there are several other instances which instantly categorize an image as "free" but I don't know all of them). They therefore have no copyright and are accessible to use by anyone. When someone has taken a photograph and then uploads it to Wikipedia Commons, they no longer hold copyright status for the image and it becomes everyone's to use. Therefore, being a photographer myself, if I went to a Smashing Pumpkins concert and snapped a shot of them and put it on Wikipedia, anyone can use it and it would probably be put in the article. Fair use images, on the other hand, have some restraints. In the United States, copyrighted images are allowed to be used for speculation, criticism and for educational purposes (Wikipedia). However, appropriate fair use rationale must be included in the licensing section to show how it enhances the article and that the event the image depicts is mentioned somewhere in the text. For example, I can't put an image of the Chili Peppers during an interview in 1992 if the article does not mention it. Fair use images can not, furthermore, be put on anyone's userpage, on any talk page or any template, etc. If you have any other questions I'd be more than happy to help! - Exactly! You've got it. NSR77 TC 23:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Discography
editI re-styled them mostly due to the non free use images in the boxes. You should include chart positions, if possible certifications, and album names should be uncapitalized. That is how it should be. The format is ususally Date, Title, Label, Charts, Certifications. Devin Townsend is a mastermind with metal, and should have a good looking discography. Thank you, Skeeker [Talk] 22:56, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
I realise that but there really should be no images, and SYL discography should be moved to a different page, in the existing section put,{{main|Strapping Young Lad discography}} Skeeker [Talk] 04:28, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I like your new edits to the article. Skeeker [Talk] 01:32, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Godsmack
editHi, would you please talk some sense into User:Demantos. He is trying to merge Godsmack discography with Godsmack. Godsmack has enough music to warrent a seperate article for discography, and any substantially successful band has one on wikipedia. Please comment on his talk page, and comment here.
Thank you,
obZen
editHello, this is on the regards of the new Meshuggah album.

Please do not remove it again. Thank you. ~ Kobkobkob
SYL revamping
editOf course, I'd be glad to help you. As soon as I'm done with the SYL article, maybe a week, I'll begin finding sources. I'm hoping to get the SYL article up to FA standards. Gocsa (talk) 20:18, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Strapping Young Lad is a featured article candidate, so feel free to comment! Gocsa (talk) 14:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Take a Chill Pill?
editListen up, Heavy metal is a genre in itself. Thrash, along with all other kinds of metal fall under this category so yes it is a generalization. And what do you mean by 'tude? How am I going to express myself as having attitude over the damn internet? And about original resource. I have about 8 sources saying it is Thrash. This is no where near what St. Anger was. St. Anger was an unpolished disgrace. There are certain circumstances where the only way to classify bands is by heavy metal. But lets think of some classic heavy metal bands. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Diamond Head, Tygers of Pan Tang, Saxon, Judas Priest, Blitzkrieg. All of those are heavy metal and none of the songs on this album could i safely say they sound similar to anyone of those bands.
I'm just trying to get a point across genre-wise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgardner1123 (talk • contribs) 19:32, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Modest Mouse
editHey, I was just editing Modest Mouse, and I undid some vandalism about Eliza Thompson. But when I looked at the history of the page, my revision wasn't there, and yours was. Did you get an edit conflict or something? Tezkag72 (talk) 01:57, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
HevyDevy Records
editHi, I have undone your re-direct. My explanation about the redirect did not fit properly on the history page so I'll just re-type it here for you.
user Vanishdoom made an incorrect re-direct. The HDR site has not been updated in over year. Also, on ALL albums released by HDR, the back covers feature the spelling "HevyDevy Records" NOT Hevydevy Records
The page has been called HevyDevy Records for a long time now so it is unnecessary to re-direct it now. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Webmaster G (talk • contribs) 09:07, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for restoring the proper genres to this article. I've spent the past twenty minutes reverting edits to various Green Day-related articles by an anonymous editor whose sole goal seemed to be removing any suggestion that Green Day is a pop punk band. I've also warned this editor that if the genre edits continue, I will report him/her to an administrator for vandalism. Huntthetroll (talk) 03:56, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Octahedron tmv.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Octahedron tmv.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:22, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Frequent severance.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Frequent severance.jpg, which you've sourced to Album cover of Aircastle Flyaway's "Frequent Severance". I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:20, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

The article Bark Bark Bark has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- MySpace band
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Ryulong (琉竜) 02:32, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
