A special protocol could be developed to access on-line evolvable content, like Wikipedia. A specialized client (like feed reader/email client/news reader, etc.) could be used to access the content, or this could be integrated to the browser. Users can store this content to their disk and sync it with the online content or make their contributions to online content.

Good idea. [Kiwix http://www.kiwix.org/index.php/Main_Page] was along the line. Yeah, a protocol suggestion for wiki is a good idea.

Wikians

edit

I have moved Wikians to User:V4vijayakumar/Wikians. It would appear that you are trying to start a new project here. Such stuff should be discussed in the Wikipedia: namespace, not the (Main) one.

And how does what you are proposing differ from the Reference desk? -- RHaworth 06:35, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Promotional material on Bitcoin

edit

Hello, I'm KyleLandas. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --KyleLandas (talk) 11:22, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, the material you added was not supported by reliable sources. The other symbols are used by Bitcoin-Qt and are referenced in notable articles. --KyleLandas (talk) 11:24, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Kyle, XBT is newly proposed ISO standard currency symbol for bitcoin; actually, it is quite a bit old. This will be used in exchanges and other official documents. This currency unit is too fine to be used in day to day usage (1000 XBT = 13 cents). My reference link may not be appropriate, and that change.org petition was not created by me. This is no way a self promotion. I will try to provide the best link possible now. I can refer to a tweet from jon matonis of bitcoinfoundation.org. You can consider this as the most authoritative. So, I will go ahead and put that changes back. --V4vijayakumar (talk) 02:35, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Tweets and petitions are not reliable sources. If you can cite a reliable and notable source such as a news article from a mainstream site or a book to make your claim that this code is used and recognized, then you can add it. Please reread policy and Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources --KyleLandas (talk) 03:39, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Additionally, an email from a bitcoin organization is obviously not reliable considering they are close to the subject and that self-published material is not considered reliable. --KyleLandas (talk) 03:43, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please be polite, do a wee bit research and don't remove it yet. Change.org petition is signed by close to 600 people now. I am not promoting anything here, just add this piece of information as know what is happening with XBT. I will try to update this reference, or you update it when you find the right one. Many wallets already implementing it. or, this change is on the way. Jon is not just a person, he is a bitcoinfoundation.org Secretary. He handles press and member inquiries along with Gavin. Gavin is chief bitcoin developer. For example, (1) bitcoin-wallet XBT currency code support, (2) bitcoin-spinner; Please check Readme. (3) Please check, bitcoin - XBT buzz with google. This time, I am not going to put it back, and I demand you to put it. Be responsible. --V4vijayakumar (talk) 04:07, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
