Your comments at SPI

edit

Hi, I'm making this warning in my capacity as a CheckUser. I've noticed multiple cases where you've commented with comments that aren't particularly helpful and are if anything distracting or disruptive to the SPI process. Directing admins to block and for a certain length of time is not something anyone should be doing, but particularly not a new user with very little experience on Wikipedia. Adding duck templates is also generally a waste of time if you don't explain it. If you continue to do so, a clerk, another CheckUser, or myself may request that you stop making comments at SPI all together per the SPI procedures. TonyBallioni (talk) 03:22, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm also gonna chime in here as you should definitely not be tagging accounts like you did here. Leave this to administrators or at the very least, experienced editors. Praxidicae (talk) 14:34, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
As a third voice, edits like Special:Diff/877097671 are unnecessary and do not need to happen (as given by the subsequent edit where the user reverted the edit). Please stop tagging user pages with unnecessary tags, unless you wish to find yourself staring at sanctions. Primefac (talk) 00:18, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blanking message template

edit

Hi, just for future reference, {{uw-blank1}} is a better message template to use than {{uw-delete1}} when someone has completely blanked a page. Similarly with the level 2 templates. — Smjg (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Sklavenkasse

Hello User456541. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Sklavenkasse, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. Thank you. Passengerpigeon (talk) 12:46, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Oversight

edit

Since you apparently aren't reading the replies to your emails to the oversight ticket queue, I must respond to you here. Special:EmailUser/Oversight is for requests for material to be suppressed for a qualifying reason under our policy Wikipedia:Oversight. It is not for routine requests under any of the criteria for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion requests are submitted by placing a template on the page to be deleted.

Further, I struggle to understand the purpose of this edit, and there is no content on that page which is eligible for either Oversight or Speedy Deletion.

Please familiarize yourself with our Oversight policy at the previous link, and our speedy deletion process at WP:CSD, before your next email to this mailbox. By sending routine speedy deletion requests you are only wasting your own time as this is not the correct venue for such requests, and drawing our time and attention away from the urgent and privacy sensitive matters that mailbox is intended for. ST47 (talk) 15:28, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@ST47: It's because for some reason, I don't get reply emails. –User456541 15:30, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you have been using e-mail because you were worried about admins not noticing the deletion tag, the speedy deletion templates already add the pages they are placed on to a category that is monitored by administrators. Passengerpigeon (talk) 22:08, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your reports made to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (“AIV”)

edit

I declined two of your reports for users KARTIKSR3 and Kishanjack15 as the edits were not vandalism. Please only use AIV to report vandalism needing quick admin action to block. The only concern I see with those accounts is conflict of interest, which should be raised on their talk page first versus reporting. See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#How_to_handle_conflicts_of_interest for more info on this. Thanks, N.J.A. | talk 15:50, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

CSD

edit

Hi, noticed that you have recently mistagged a number of articles for speedy deletion including G11. Please read WP:CSD as speedy deletion is only for the worst articles, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 19:31, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • To clarify, here is an example of a page that would be eligible for deletion under criterion G11 (do not place a tag on that actual page, as it is an illustrative example). G11 is only for pages that consist entirely of promotional puffery, where there is basically no useful encyclopedic content and the entire article would need to be blanked and rewritten to comply with Wikipedia's content policies. If you would like to gain a better understanding of Wikipedia policies, including the deletion policy, consider accepting my adoption offer. Passengerpigeon (talk) 21:57, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am Passengerpigeon. I would be happy to take you on as an adoptee under the Wikipedia adoption process. If you choose to accept the offer, please send me a message on my talk page accepting the nomination, then click here and paste in the code {{subst:User:Passengerpigeon/Adoption school}}. This will create your Adoption School page, which is where you can do exercises and answer questions that will develop your knowledge of Wikipedia policies. You can get started right away with the exercises if you want, even before I respond to your talk message. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks! • I am currently marking your answers to the Proposed Deletion section. You are beginning to get the hang of deletion policies, but still have some work to do if that is an area you are enthusiastic about working in on Wikipedia. I have given you the option of trying again on a few questions in the speedy deletion and proposed deletion sections - please do this, as the marks you get the second time will override the marks you got on the first attempt. Thanks for participating in this adoption program. Passengerpigeon (talk) 00:43, 19 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined

edit

Hello,

I have declined the G5 speedy deletion nomination on User:Abijitark/sandbox. This is because the page was created 1 April 2020 and the block for the account was 24 April 2020. G5 only applies to pages created after the oldest block (i.e. a page created after 24 April 2020 would be eligible, but a page created before then is not eligible). In other words, taking from the WP:CSD, To qualify, the edit or page must have been made while the user was actually banned or blocked. A page created before the ban or block was imposed or after it was lifted will not qualify under this criterion. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 22:00, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Luis Jonne speedy deletion request

edit

Thank you for the notice about your request. Please keep in mind that A7 is not a valid reason for requesting speedy deletion of an article that makes a clear claim of notability (as this article did - Jonne is an international footballer). If you have any questions feel free to let me know. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 21:22, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Slow down

edit

I came here to ask you to please slow down and be more cautious in your editing. In the last few weeks, you've made several mistakes and it's now bordering on disruption. We all make mistakes but your SPI filing was completely frivolous, followed by your meta SRG request which in no way was legitimate. You've also tagged several items for deletion as a7 that are very clearly not, and a draft for g13 that had been edited just a day before. And that's only in your last 50 or so edits. If you'd like, I can put a list together of the problematic edits but I'd rather not and hope you will instead put your time to better use (and mine) by thinking before you edit. edit

There is no need to tag talk pages of already-tagged articles for G8. Barring any Twinkle issues, the talk page is generally automatically deleted. Pemba Sherpa moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Pemba Sherpa, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hey, what was this for? It caused an edit conflict I had to manually resolve to keep from losing 20 minutes' work. —valereee (talk) 15:01, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Valereee: Why are you repeadtely pinging me, and why did you abuse the block function? I just put it in to indicate that it is a userspace draft. –User456541 22:58, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
That's not necessary, and it was annoying to find that someone was not only editing a draft in my userspace uninvited while I was actively editing that draft, but that the edit wasn't even an attempt to be helpful. How did you even end up there? —valereee (talk) 10:45, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Valereee: Special:NewPages with namespace set to "User". I frequently go there to find WP:U5 and WP:G11 violations. –User456541 15:00, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ah, that explains it. Well, in future, I'd appreciate it if you'd check to see if it's likely I'm currently editing. When I edit in my userspace, I usually add everything from a given source before saving, as I don't expect edit conflicts there, and in this case I had to go through and manually accept ten different small edits in order to resolve the edit conflict. Sorry for being grumpy, I was having a bad day. Best to you. —valereee (talk) 15:45, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Draftifying unfinished articles is unnecessary and counter productive

edit

Please consider more before moving articles from main space. "unfinished" is not a criteria for moving. There about 25 million unfinished articles on Wikipedia and the quantity grows every day. None of the articles are finished. Draft status is an optional stage in the creation of new articles. If an article is notable and there is enough information to make the most trivially referenced stub then it should be welcomed (and not moved to draft space). Main space is where productive editors collaborate to improve Wikipedia by working on unfinished articles Victuallers (talk) 09:01, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
