Your GA nom of Loch Leven Castle

edit

I've conducted a review of the article on Loch Leven Castle, it can be found here. Unfortunately, there are a few content issues which I think need resolving and have placed the article on hold. I notice that you've not edited the article (at least, not under the name of Truthanado), do you have the sources necessary to complete the article? Nev1 (talk) 21:45, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's certainly a good article and with a little work will be Good. It might be worth asking WikiProject Scottish Castles if anyone can help, Milhist might be worthwhile too, but is less specialised. Nev1 (talk) 13:58, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

...about the article Kazuyo Katsuma. You're speedy indeed, I was just writing it :). Not quite sure why you don't like the article - but she is a very significant person in Japan. I replied at her talk page. Besides, maybe you can help with fixing the link to the Japanese version of the article. --Thomas (talk) 17:38, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I saw you nominated it, so thanks, though personally I'm not sure its there yet as the article lacks depth. Anyway, I'll certainly help out, I shall try to work on it today or tomorrow, then we'll see what the reviewer says. Cheers, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 09:52, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Millville NJ

edit

Truthanado I need your help as someone deleted the reference section of the Millville NJ page. If you look at my last edit and then the current page it is much different as the Millville NJ Motorsports Park is no longer there and all the references are changed. Where do I turn to have it restored to the old version.--Millvillenj (talk) 05:39, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Deletion of GreenCine Daily

edit

Hey, I'm disputing the speedy deletion of this article (I'm the author).

Besides the fact that there are links to an article in Cineaste (a major publication) plus the one in Film in Focus and the transcript of the Film Comments panel with GC Daily's editor present that all note the site's notability, I just started the article. I'm not sure how it fits speedy deletion criteria. --Granddukesfinances (talk) 01:51, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, it's understandable--nothing links to the article within Wikipedia. But I'd recommend Googling it, reading the references (there are four for the statement that qualifies the site's importance: "...is seen as one of the centers of the online film community." I thought that since we have an article about Girish Shambu, which is also undisputably one of the places English-language film criticism online revolves around, we should have one about the more heavily read Daily (example: the reference for the Shambu article is a GreenCine Daily article). --Granddukesfinances (talk) 02:02, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bridge deck not necessarely part of a ship

edit

Deck (bridge) is needed because all the articles linked to it are bridges, not ships, Therefore any redirect to Deck (ship) is meaningless. Hence a temporary stub is in order, and some expert can expand it. Hoever, if Second Narrows Bridge ,etc can be linked directly to wiktionary instead of to Deck (ship) that would be OK. But the previous redirect(s) to Deck (ship) were nonsense. Peter Horn 01:52, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Machugh is used in the Defaultsort/Lifetime template to assist with category sorting, so that all names beginning with 'Mc' are grouped together. Deck (bridge)

edit

Deck (bridge) What kind of sources would you suggest, other than bridge engineering text books? It should be obvious to you that a bridge without a deck, the road surface and/or walking surface, is not very usefull unless it is a railway bridge with a track or two. The road surface and the track are in some cases combined especially if it is a tramway track. Do you know of another name that you might suggest instead of deck? Matt Yallof

edit

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Matt Yallof, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! The guy won four regional Emmys--it seems to me that this passes the notability test. Transwikied DYKs

edit

In response to your question, as far as I know it's fine, and the article will be treated as a new article, but just like with any other article you'll have to do some work making sure the referencing is good and the article meets all the other requirements.

I'm leaving this message for you here so you don't have to wade through the dispute that a disruptive editor has chosen to start in response to your good-faith question. The answer is here, so you don't need to worry about the other bullshit going on at WT:DYK.

Hello Truthanado, hope all is well. I'm so glad I found a spot, finally, to reach someone with a question on this wonderful site. My son, Bret, wanted to start an article on me and did. I tried to help clean it up, add some facts and information and references and now there are three big blocks at the top of the page, one with the scales of justice, one about autobiography and one about references. How can we get those removed, "cleaned up" as I've seen. Whatever help you can give or do would be greatly appreciated. This is all very new and complicated to us. It took me 3 days just to find your comments and sort through things. You are from Rochester too? Please advise and thank you very much for any help you can give, especially to my son. Best wishes. Re: Date linking in DYK notification

edit

I agree with you that the date shouldn't be wikilinked to December 30 or 2008 or articles like that. Personally, I think it would be most useful to have it link to the DYK archive page that will have that hook in it; I personally don't know how to implement that (since the archive is originally just WP:Recent additions and then changes to a numbered archive), but I think {{DYKtalk}} and {{ArticleHistory}} both do that, so maybe by talking with the people who maintain those templates you could find a good solution for the DYK notification template? Ray Gunkel DYK nomination

edit

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some clarification on this nomination. My understanding of the criteria at Wikipedia:Did you know#Selection criteria states that the prose portion of the article must have been expanded fivefold. The majority of the previously existing article was a list, so I only count 384 characters before the expansion. Am I mistaken? Either way, I really appreciate you taking a look at my hook suggestion and I'll do what is necessary to help get it on the main page. Thanks, GaryColemanFan (talk) 06:16, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ray Gunkel

edit

Please reconsider the DYK nomination of this article. It looks like you counted the lists, when you shouldn't have. Do you now about the prosesize.js script? It does the counting automatically and only includes the relevant prose. According to my count it qualifies, all it needs is a reference check. - Mgm|(talk) 12:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Balthasar Gelt

edit

You recently tagged this article A7 and the tag was removed by the creator. However, the article isn't an A7 candidate anyway because it's about a fictional character not a real person. Since it's likely the creator would also remove a prod tag, I recommend AFD if you think it should be deleted. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 01:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lifetime vs YOB and YOD categories

edit

Please don't replace YOB/YOD categories with Lifetime. Read instructions in the template's page. In the talk page I have stated man reasons why this substitution is not correct. Summarising I would say that: Lifetime confuses bots and tools, an extra template has to be rendered by the serves each time, offers no difference from the categories, it's confusing for newbies, it hides defaultost with many side-effects. Speedy Deletion of List of 'Eye of the Sports Guy' and 'B.S. Report' Podcasts

edit

This information doesn't exist elsewhere, and a number of these had been famously 'lost' and now we have the opportunity to create a definitive catalog of the content and guests. As I stated on the Talk page, this information simply isn't organized and while admittedly it will be less popular than the List of Battlestar Galactica objects, the documentation of this content will actually be useful to preserving the history of this material. Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Jliverse (talk) 23:21, 21 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
