wikidata magic tag

edit

Hallo! I was impressed with a tag you just used in the german postgresql article. By simply having <!-- Wikidata --> on different parts of the infobox, mediawiki was able to find its way to the correct wikidata statement. I was really impressed. I made the same on german version of julia language and it magically works. Do you know where can I find documentation about it? I couldn't find it. no mentions on pages I found, ex: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Template:Wikidata https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:How_to_use_data_on_Wikimedia_projects. No clue. Hi Brunoff! The <!-- Wikidata --> "tag" does not have a real function. It is not required but just a comment to give people a hint that the data for the infobox field are being fetched from Wikidata if there's no manual entry for the field. The Wikidata bindings are defined by the respective infobox type, e.g. Infobox Software of the German Wikipedia. The documentation shows which of its fields may get data from Wikidata if they exist.
