Re:Regarding Userbox

I'm not really sure how that happened. I've been substitution userbox code for a couple days now with multiple userboxes. I've been using copy and paste technique, so I just copied the wrong code I guess. Fair use rationale for Image:TomLost.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TomLost.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 04:12, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I didn't upload this picture, I reverted it to its previous version by accident and then reverted it back to its current one to fix my mistake. Please take this up with the image's original uploader. Cheers, Tphi 22:03, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOM Template

edit

Hello there

I was looking at the list of articles/templates you have created and I have seen you made the LOM template, very soon we will be needing a new one for the Ashes to Ashes saga and as you made the last one brilliantly in my opinion. I thought you would be the man to ask to make a new one for Ashes to Ashes. Please could you reply to my talk page with if you are interested in making this or not. Thanks in advance. Actually just a thought instead of making a complete new one would it be alright for you to add the characters and the main page for ATA to the already live LOM template. Thanks. Harriet Jones

edit

There is sufficient (in my opinion) indication that the character might re-appear in a subsequent series of the program that noting that she "appears" to die seems appropriate. It certainly doesn't say that she didn't die...but there's a reason the proverb says "appearances can be deceiving," especially in television drama. Nothing is harmed by that slight hedging of the bet, as it were, in the article. -- Davidkevin (talk) 14:20, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Robb Douglass

edit

You originated an article for Robb Douglass of the infamous "Robb's Celebrity Oops" but I am confused by the detail you have included so far. Celeb Oops was run by a man called Robert Ashton Douglass, a Welsh chemical engineer and IT consultant who lived near Knighton in Mid-Wales and seems to have resided in Britain all his life after obtaining his degrees at British universities. He was married to Judy Douglass. None of this seems to tie in with the detail you provided of a photographer with a Canadian background. Where did you get your information from? 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 14:12, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

edit

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Wii System Software

edit

You recently added some information to the Wii System Software article. The information you added was incorrect and your changes have been reverted. The recent update is still version 3.3 (you can confirm for yourself by going to the settings menu on your Wii) and the Wii Shop channel still lists point values as Wii Points, not Nintendo Points (you can confirm this for yourself by simply going into the Wii Shop Channel). In the future please ensure that what you are adding is correct and cite sources when possible. -Zomic13 (talk) 21:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Robb Douglass

edit

A tag has been placed on Robb Douglass requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Schuym1 (talk) 22:29, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, my name is Michael Tsikerdekis[2][3], currently involved as a student in full time academic research at Masaryk University. I am writing to you to kindly invite you to participate in an online survey about interface and online collaboration on Wikipedia. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Foundation Research Committee.

I am contacting you because you were randomly selected from a list of active editors. The survey should take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete, and it is very straightforward.

Wikipedia is an open project by nature. Let’s create new knowledge for everyone! :-)

Proposed deletion of Robb Douglass

edit

The article Robb Douglass has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks any verification or any hope of such. Links are all dead

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Robb Douglass for deletion

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
