How dissimilar does it need to be? I used to the tool to look up whether it was taken or not and it showed as it not being taken TiddiesTiddiesTiddies (talk) 16:18, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure if I replied to you properly or not because it appeared outside the colored box so I'm copying and pasting my question again here:

It was denied by 331dot however from reading the username policy I could not understand what they were talking about and got no answer after repeated requests for clarification. It's fine if I can't use this name, but I'd like to get some guidance on how similar/dissimilar a new username can be to someone else's username or at least the usernames that it conflicts with. I'm not trying to waste anyone's time; I'm trying to get some clarification. I don't understand how asking for clarification on something I can't find in the policy doc is wasting anyone's time and it is certainly not my intention to waste anyone's time. TiddiesTiddiesTiddies (talk) 18:49, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

The usernames "Henry Bemis" and "Henry bemis" already exist, which as a technical matter prevents me from renaming your account to "HenryBemis". Close variations are not permitted to prevent confusion and also deliberate impersonation.

Names that read as "TittiesTittiesTitties" don't help us recruit and retain female editors; this is why you were blocked. 331dot (talk) 09:29, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
