Welcome Thepsyborg!

Hello Thepsyborg. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Walter Görlitz, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
    Introduction to Wikipedia
    The five pillars of Wikipedia
    Editing tutorial
    How to edit a page
    Simplified Manual of Style
    The basics of Wikicode
    How to develop an article
    How to create an article
    Help pages
    What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't commit vandalism
    Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
    Ask a question
or you can:
    Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles
    Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:25, 4 April 2022 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)Reply

Revert of collapsed text at ANI

edit

I collapsed a subsection on WP:ANI due to it being off-topic (it was just complaining incessantly about the WMF not fixing a notification bug, while the section was about an editor refusing to use sources), but you reverted the collapsing. In turn, I would like an explanation for the revert, because I do not understand why you undid it. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 03:19, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Totally accidental, and fixed. Sorry about that. Thepsyborg (talk) 03:31, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
No problem. And Softlavender and Ritchie, sorry for the ping over this accidental removal of your ANI report. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 03:34, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Softlavender: I would also like to bring attention to the fact that in the same edit I'm notifying for, Thepsyborg also deleted, with no explanation, an entire ANI report that Softlavender made that was addressed to @Ritchie333. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! sigh Also accidental. Also fixed. Also sorry.
Really not sure what I did there. Frustrating. Thepsyborg (talk) 03:35, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • It's simple: When starting a new thread on any talkpage or noticeboard, click the + symbol at the top. DO NOT try to scroll to the bottom and add it that way. Above all, when you get an Edit Conflict notice, DO NOT click Publish changes. You'll have to make the post all over again, but the Edict Conflict notice will include the text of your intended post if you look carefully, so just copy that, open a new page, and repost on a clean version of the page. Softlavender (talk) 04:19, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
    AHA.
Figured it had to be something along those lines- I did get the Edit Conflict notice, so I copied the text of my addition, closed the editor, reopened it from the page, re-added my addition, and published...and I think I forgot to refresh the page before reopening the editor, so I was "editing" from an old version.
Thanks for the tip about the + symbol. Thepsyborg (talk) 04:22, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
