- Um? Is this a question? If you're referring to my cat she's named after the Life in Hell character. Snurks T C 19:55, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
why yes
Well, to start off with, we've got the cats on the user page thing in common :-). I have seen you around quite a bit lately, and I think you're doing very good work. Someone like you would make a good admin in the future, and if you stick around long enough, I would be happy to nominate you for admin when the time comes. Just keep a level head if disputes arise, make sure to use edits summaries (which I can see you're already doing), and keep participating, and you'll go far! Thanks for the nice comments, and see you around the wiki. :-) Alhutch 08:45, 15 December 2005 (UTC) P.S. If you ever need to have someone righteously blocked or some other admin help, don't hesitate to contact me!
- My best answer to your question would be to try everything. Hmm, I guess that's not very good advice. Try stub-sorting or responding to Requests for comment on articles to start with. Another thing I like to do is start new articles on topics requested on this page: WP:AR1. It's really not that hard, you just pick a topic that sounds interesting, do some quick google research, and write it up, citing your sources. that would get you familiar with categorizing articles and finding stub categories to put new articles into, and if you think about it, its sort of the opposite of being a deletionist :-). That's my suggestion for now, but if I think of something else, I'll tell you.--Alhutch 09:03, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Listing vandals at WP:AIAV
Hey no problem, but I do want to let you know that before listing vandals at AIAV please make sure they have been warned up to a {{subst:test4}} . The vandal continued to make vandalising edits, so I was able to warn him up to the test4 and then block when he still continued. Thanks and happy editing. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk07:18, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- No need to say sorry :-D, I know sometimes vandals make edits so quick it's tough to choose between warning them and requesting them to be blocked.KnowledgeOfSelf| talk 07:22, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Snurks:
I ran across your post to Klosterdev's talk page, and it occurred to me that s/he is probably a fairly new user (the account was created in July, but the number of contributions is fairly low) and might need some help along the way. You both seem to be interested inYTMND, so I was wondering if maybe you'd take him under your wing and help him along. If there is anything I can do for either of you, let me know!-- Essjay · Talk 08:55, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Sure, why not?
I spend a good amount of time reading Wikipedia for entertainment, and occasionally I come accross minor things I should add or remove. I never really did anything beyond that because I don't know how to do anything beyond basic edits. Even so, if you need someone to help fight vanels, I'd be interested. So I just download the .jar file?
Barnstar
I hereby award you this Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar for being so quick to offer your help to User:Klosterdev. Wear it with pride, and keep up the good work! -- Essjay · Talk 10:44, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I've downloaded it.
Couple things. Is there an FAQ that explains how to use it?
Also, how do I roll back a page? Klosterdev 23:05, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Now that I'm thinking about it, how do I delete a page that was vandalized? (an article for something non-existant or somesuch)Klosterdev 23:09, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, you've pretty much covered it.
One last question for now. What is that +/- collumn with the numbers stand for?
Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Theodolite/Archive 1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all theEsperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created atEsperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general,Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy,Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower byemail or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
Couple more questions
First of all, how do you create a table of contents? I came across a page that needs to be Wikified, but I am uncertain on how to create a table of contents so I can organize it.
Also, releating to the subject, how do I nominate a page to be Wikified?
Thanks for the help. Klosterdev 09:57, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Admin Coaching!
Hi Snurks! I'm Celestianpower and he's Drini and we're your new Admin Coaches! You'd better get ready to stick your nose to the grindstone and work until your fingers bleed. Well, not quite that hard (and you'll get used to my sense of humour) but seriously, I hope you have fun and we'll contact you about an IRC meeting soon! --Celestianpower háblame 23:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Are you 8 hours in front or behind. On Saturdayts, I'm there from 11am until 6pm usually, UTC. Any good? Sundays: 1pm - 10pm.--Celestianpower háblame17:29, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Hello there!
Good day, I'm Drini, one of the coaches that were assigned to you by the admin coach Esperanza program. I hope we'll stay in touch, if you need any assistance feel free to drop me a note or to Celestianpower (your other coach). -- (drini's page ☎ ) 23:06, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General andFireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be foundhere. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy ofBratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: Sam's script, modified
I no longer use it as I am an administrator, but I have recently tested it on a spare account to make sure it hasn't been broken by any software updates or whatnot. You can copy it from User:Freaksock/monobook.js. The first section contains several 'abbrev' entries, which are shorthand for descriptions of various kinds of bad edits. When you hit [rollback], it will pop up an input box, where you enter, for example, "bl" for "blanking". Of course there are others, and you can change them to suit your needs. If you make an invalid entry, it defaults to "edits", rather accepting a typo or slowing you down in correcting it. Peruvianllama added his own feature to it, which allows you to enter "c [other]" for an on-the-fly customization. Have fun. — FREAK OFNURxTURE (TALK) 16:55, Feb. 8, 2006
Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 andWP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see thesummary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place inthe Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

re: coaching
I saw that page, however I don't believe much in quizzes (maybe since I'm a teacher). From what I see you have common sense on your answers (and being admin is after all, just knowing policy and using common sense) so I don't worry much about the general common scenarios (as the ones on the page) since you're likely to handle them well. If I however come up with an interesting situation, I'll ask you to know what you think.
I'm more a believer on you getting your own questions or you questioning what other admins do (and not just about vandalism cleaning up) so you can come up with the reasons, and when you get confused or don't undertand why admins do what they do, you can ask me about it. Good luck on your quizzes.-- ( drini's page ☎ ) 19:56, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Categories
Hi, Snurks. If you put a colon in the category link like this: [[:Category:Articles that need to be wikified]], it will prevent the page, like this one, from being added to that category. Thanks, Kjkolb 17:59, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
re: godmode lite and monobook.js
Hey Snurks. I came across your post on User:Klosterdev's User_talk:Klosterdev talk page, and I would like the rollback function as well, but I am unsure as to how to go about doing it. I am interested in fighting vandalism and have started checking the RC page to help Wikipedia in any way I can; I believe that the godmode lite script for rollback would help me go about doing this easier. Could you please assist me in setting this up / set it up for me. I made an attempt to do so, but perhaps I don't quite understand how it works. Thanks in advance. Skomae 18:34, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks. Also, how do I nominate a page for speedy deletion? http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/James_kutter Klosterdev 22:22, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- One last thing: How do you include the info (talk • contribs • WHOIS • block user • block log) when reporting a vandal? Does it have to be done manually, or is there an easy way to do it?

Unspecified source for Image:Gasmasktown.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Gasmasktown.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so thecopyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 11:01, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_famous_bearded_people
I modified the lead paragraph for the article particularly to meet your statement I would possibly support a "List of famous beards. The lead section to the article now reads Membership entry on this list further requires that the entry be famous because the entry is associated with a notable beard by a reliable published source as defined byWikipedia:List_guideline#References_for_list_Items. I expressly incorporated into the language of WP:NOT item 1.1.7.1: Of course, there is nothing wrong with having lists if their entries are famous because they are associated with or significantly contributed to the list topic and added reliable published source to meet other concerns. I spent a lot of time on this article and it is important to me. I believe that this article can be used as a Wikipedia precedent by which all other lists of a similar vain may be judge. This should keep out many non-Wikipedia policy/guidline complying articles. I would appreciate your changing your vote and base your change on the fact that the text conforms to all Wikipedia Article standards, including What Wikipedia is not. If you still believe the article does not meet Wikipedia policy and guidlines, please post on my talk page and I will revise the article accordingly.--Jreferee 20:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:The Sound the Hare Heard.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:The Sound the Hare Heard.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Advisory committee.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Advisory committee.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights),{{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
