- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Your edits in "Terrorism in India" article
editHi. Thank you for your contributions. However, some of your edits (especially the reverted ones which you keep adding) may be considered as edit warring, which, if found nonconstructive or disruptive, may attract sanctions, ultimately leading to an administrator blocking the user. However, I see your intention is to build the article, which is good. Why not list those in a tabular format (with proper sources and notes) rather than listing them as blank sections (which currently have no text other than a link to the main article)? This way, the encyclopedic information can be retained. Please remember to cite every claim with proper sources. Thank you. Rasnaboy (talk) 04:56, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Indian Space Association (ISpA)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Indian Space Association (ISpA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from zeenews.india.com/india/pm-narendra-modi-to-launch-indian-space-association-today-2401526.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Request reason:
I hereby understand that the information should always be written in my own words and that the content shouldn't be copied in any manner. My intent was never to violate any kind of Wikipedia guidelines or vandalism of any sort and I have always contributed to Wikipedia in good faith with the intention of giving back to the community and spreading knowledge. But I apologize if I have unknowingly violated and gives you confidence that such matter will not be repeated in future. I understand and will take copyright matters more seriously from now. I promise you to not to copy from sources from now on and kindly request you for unblocking my account and give me a chance to work on my mistakes. Thanking You, Regards TheUniversalEditor (talk) 09:46, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:25, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Responding to the provided questions What is copyright? A copyright is a type of intellectual property that protects the original work of the owner by providing them the exclusive right to copy and distribute a creative work.
How is Wikipedia licensed? The text of Wikipedia is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share Alike 3.0 Unported License. The images of Wikipedia, on the other hand, may or may not permit resuse and thus the conditions of the reproduction of each image must be checked individually. The Wikipedia/Wikimedia logos are trademarked and are not freely usable without permission.
Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia? The database servers of Wikipedia are located in the territory of the United States and are subjected to US Copyright law and thus Wikipedia refrain from hosting any copyrighted content without due permission its the respective owners.
Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content? In general, copyrighted content without permission can be used for limited purposes such as criticism, parody, news reporting, research and scholarship and teaching. Copyrighted content can be used on Wikipedia only after due permission from the respective owner.
How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future? After understanding the copyright as well as Wikipedia policies, I would absolutely avoid writing any copyrighted content but instead after understanding the content thoroughly, I would write it in my own words. TheUniversalEditor (talk) 16:26, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Let's compare:
- What you wrote: "
The images of Wikipedia, on the other hand, may or may not permit resuse and thus the conditions of the reproduction of each image must be checked individually.
" - Wikipedia:Copyrights: "
Images may or may not permit reuse and modification; the conditions for reproduction of each image should be individually checked
"
This is not what I would call "writing in your own words". NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:13, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Could you give an example, how would you write that in "your own words"? Seems changed to me. --Random Guy

Request reason:
I have understood that the copyrights should be respected and (a) no copyrighted content should be posted without due permission from the respective owner (b) the content should be written in our own words. I assure that I will always respect the said guidelines and will adhere to them. It is already been 5 months for my account to be blocked and I assure that no such violation will take place in the future. I request kindly to unblock my account/IP address.TheUniversalEditor (talk) 17:09, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You still need to answer the questions Yamla asked of you in the first unblock request, in your own words. Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing your own unblock request like last time does not give me confidence that you will be able to avoid doing so in articles, or that you properly understand what writing in your own words means. Please do not post another unblock request unless you clearly address the questions asked and show a clear understanding of copyright. Galobtter (pingó mió) 07:08, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

- If you mean for that to be an unblock request, you need to properly format it. WP:GAB explains how to do so. However, your answer is not generally correct. It looks like you don't understand WP:FAIRUSE at all. --Yamla (talk) 17:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
