edit

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Possible personal attack on Chromakopia

edit

Hey TMC, I was patrolling around and noticed that you said this while reverting someone on Chromakopia.

You are so annoying. Get a job

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but if you said this to a good faith editor (and you should always assume good faith!), then that would be a personal attack which you should never do, especially to someone as inexperienced as @Ralancer (assuming they're not a vandal). But again, I don't really know what happened here, so can you give me the context? I've notified Ralancer already. TheWikiToby (talk) 19:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The editing was so chaotic on that page, I believed Ralancer was the one who kept vandalizing the page over and over again with it consistently having to be reverted as when I reverted the page, the most recent edit was by Ralancer. I assumed it was them at the time because looking into the revision history, there were multiple possible vandalism reverts on their edits. When I compared one of their edits to the previous rendition of the page by clicking on the "prev" button, I saw very clear vandalism. I was very tired at the time though, and don't know if it was them actually deleting vandalism or them vandalizing the page themselves when I look back on it now. I'm sorry if I got it mixed up. Just looked at Ralancer's contribution history and confirming now that I did in fact mistake their edits reverting vandalism for them repeatedly vandalizing the page. I'm sorry for the insult and mistake on my judgement. TheMaskedChairman (talk) 22:17, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
All good! I would caution that you avoid any aggression to even vandals and trolls (see these: WP:DENY WP:DNIV WP:RBI) for this exact situation. It's always possible that you could've just insulted an actual good-faith editor. TheWikiToby (talk) 15:29, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
