Z class

edit

Needs more WP:RS - it is one thing to cleanup, but there's nothing really there, either the HVR item or whatever is not enough... JarrahTree 09:01, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the headsup, i will start looking for extra sources and data so it can be added to the Z class article ThatArmyDude (talk) 09:13, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/266147244?searchTerm=WAGR%20Z%20class is one way to go, but needs careful query statements... JarrahTree 09:19, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
showing conflation with the x and y material - there is z in there - "Diesel Locomotive Will Open New Era For W.A. Railways". The West Australian. Vol. 70, , no. 21, 070. Western Australia. 1 February 1954. p. 2. Retrieved 26 August 2022 – via National Library of Australia.{{cite news}}: CS1 maint: extra punctuation (link)JarrahTree 09:25, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can't thank you enough with these references as i was previously unable to find any kind of extra data on the Z class aside from places i can't use as sources. The data has been incorporated into the text of the article and the sources have been added as references.
If i haven't properly entered the data into the article feel free to correct it as i'm not that experienced with Wiki editing.
Thanks again for your help
ThatArmyDude (talk) 09:58, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
NP - that's just easy picked fruit, there are more obscure points of reference that I can get if required. Keep at it - its worth doing as the subject area is inadequately covered - pity I cannot help you on the french vertical boiler sweetie - my french is zilch and materials re that lot is harder to get to... JarrahTree 10:41, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
no problem if you can't help with the French loco, i'm currently tracking down some books which should have data on it.
any more data for the Z class would be appreciated as it would help improve the article further
Thanks ThatArmyDude (talk) 11:08, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
unfortunately, slowly does it... JarrahTree 11:28, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Good Day, i wondered if you were able to dig up more sources and data about the Z class as i've yet to find anything.
My thanks in advance ThatArmyDude (talk) 09:50, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Worth noting - talk pages are not necessarily on other user's 'watch list' - it is a case of ascertaining the other editors preferences - some talk pages have very specific instructions as to how they understand conversations. I dont necessarily have a problem either way, but take care with it, there can be misunderstandings - my talk page or yours is fine...

If I have mentioned something like https://trove.nla.gov.au/ it would be well worth having a close look at and working with it - and doing whatever you can to either reverse engineer the links that i have offered - specially like - "Diesel Locomotive Will Open New Era For W.A. Railways". The West Australian. Vol. 70, , no. 21, 070. Western Australia. 1 February 1954. p. 2. Retrieved 30 August 2022 – via National Library of Australia.{{cite news}}: CS1 maint: extra punctuation (link) - where there may be articles in trove not so obvious - also the date of introduction can be tested within the query part of trove... and 'new diesel' rather than 'z' might have something. I have very strange editing patterns and I dont expect that I will be bale to provide 'easy' references - and in fact sometimes I do not do ref searches where I am sure others can take their time as well... The likelihood of my locating print based materials might take weeks yet, a simple fact of life as to when I am able to access materials. JarrahTree 10:35, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the tips and the links, i'll start looking through them and adding data and sources accordingly.
don't worry about providing easy references, with the links you provided you have allowed me to start digging for data in a place i would have otherwise not even known that it existed.
I get that print based materials take time and i would like to apologize if i've been pushing to hard on this
i'll get to looking and editing now
best regards ThatArmyDude (talk) 11:12, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I was using a VPN and forgot to turn this off prior to starting to edit the wiki, now I've been blocked. In future I will turn this VPN off prior to editing

Decline reason:

Give it a couple of days after turning it off and see how it works. You can also go to WP:IPECPROXY and follow those instructions to request IP block exemption, which if you get you can eat your cake and have it too. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:48, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
