Hello and welcome!

edit

You say on your userpage that you're a latecomer to Wikipedia...well, since January 2007 (I'm judging that as the time you arrived by looking at your welcome message) thousands and thousands of Wikipedians have since joined, so, you're more experienced than you think! I myself began on the 26th January 2007, what a coincidence!  ;-)

Anyway, thankyou very much for participating in the discussion on the Talk:Actor page, and please continue, no matter how crazy and out-of-hand the discussion can get (see Talk:Actor - "Player as a term for actor" for one that did get out of hand!), you're comments are valued very much. It's always a popular discussion point this one, so it could get very interesting! :-) With regards, Lradrama 08:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Slavery in Modern Africa

edit

I have nominated this article for deletion, it fails in every way to meet the wiki standards. It is constructed with ill intent. The thing about a fact is that it needs context. Ghana has a riff child slave problem, but Mali with no major slaving issues is included and Ghana isnt. Why, one is Islamic and one is Christian. The Lede is unbelivable poor. It starts with a lopsidded quote. This topic belongs in Slavery in Africa, or a complete revamp. It discredits wikipedia and should be deleted not entertained.--Halqh حَلَقَة הלכהሐላቃህ 08:57, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Windcatchers

edit

I don't understand the bit on your user page about a comment about a 1990 Scientific American article. I didn't see any mention of a 1990 SA article. I do see a link to a cached copy of the 1978 SA article you cite (though for some reason in the article it is cited as a 1976 SA article).

Do you still need the SA article? I could get it from my library, though it seems you already can read it by following the external link in the article.

Thanks for this response! Apparently the windcatcher article has evolved since I was last looking at it. I believe it erroneously referenced the 1990 SA article. At the time there was no link to the older article, and I was unable to find a copy anywhere. It's great to be able to read it finally! –Taranah 08:10, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
