Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:New Zealand France Locator.png. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:New Zealand France Locator.PNG. The copy called Image:New Zealand France Locator.PNG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 04:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Editing suggestion

Would you like to start an article on China-New Zealand relations? If we have a reasonable article at the time the free trade agreement is signed (April 7), then it could be nominated at In the news section on the Main Page/Candidates. Off the top of my head, Rewi Alley is fairly important to mention in the article, and the New Zealand China Friendship Association could be mentioned too. There's also the New Zealand head tax, and the 1421 hypothesis.-gadfium 19:05, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

I need to do a quick effort on my WIP on my page, but I will try to have it ready in time, i have already put in some refernce to Rewi Alley, but will see if i can expand it further. ciao Taifarious1 20:44, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of the WIP page - you're way ahead of me.-gadfium 20:49, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
its fine, i shall work on it later, right now im at school :D Taifarious1 21:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, agreement is signed. Please move the article into main space now. I suggest you move it first, and then add a link from the one-liner I added to Portal:Current events so people can find it.-gadfium 06:08, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I am alsmost done, but extensive work is needed, I will upload it sometime tomorrow at the earliest, because IMHO it is nowhere near ready for posting yet but i will be working feverishly to getit done. Taifarious1 07:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Sino-New Zealand relations

Don't get upset about it. There are several reasons I moved it. The first was that due to the FTA agreement being signed today if the article was not moved into the mainspace then another would very likely have been created. This seems a bit pointless don't you think? It would be quite redundant. Also as Gadfium said, you hadn't edited in a couple of days, so any delays will have cause a double up of information. While I understand that editors (myself included) can get quite protective of material they have edited/started/contributed to, nothing I did was against policy. Userspace is still licensed under GDFL, so one doesn't need permission to move the article into mainspace. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is that contributions must be attributed to those that made them, but because I moved the page all the contributions you made to it whilst in userspace also moved into the article history - so no problems there .If I had copy and pasted, which may have been occured had it been necessary to merge pages (if someone had created the same article before yours moved into mainspace) then this would have been a problem. But please don't get upset about this, it wasn't an attempt to hijack your work or prevent you contributing to the article. I'm sorry I didn't post a note on your talk page, I was going to do so before I logged off, but didn't realise you would be editing so soon. Anyway, you may want to have a careful read of WP:OWN and WP:PAGE; this may clarify why what I did was within policy. Also, I was going to suggest (when I was to post a message on your page) that you nominate the article for DYK. If you havn't done it before it's pretty simple, go to T:TDYK and follow the instructions. - Shudde talk 08:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Taifarious1, I'm sorry that the page was moved by someone else. I would have preferred that you had moved it yourself (and you did have a week's warning). The net result is that the article is much better developed than if we had created a new one from scratch, and you get your name on it as the creator. The article is also being very rapidly improved. Please don't hold a grudge about it.
This sort of thing has happened before: User:Davidcannon had an article in his own userspace about the developing situation in Fiji which was moved to become 2006 Fijian coup d'état when the coup was announced. It became the highest traffic article on Fiji he'd seen to date.-gadfium 09:19, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
